France prohibits smoking in beaches and public parks starting from Sunday

Smoking has become on the beach, in a public park, or under the umbrella of a bus station, or in front of an officially banned school throughout France, but this ban, which aims to protect children, does not include the balconies of cafes and restaurants and does not apply to electronic cigarettes.
This embargo will enter into force from Sunday after the government promised to implement it in late 2023, and was announced at the end of May. This procedure applies to the beaches “during the swimming season” and in public parks, and at passenger parking stations.
The Ministry of Health stated in a statement that this procedure also applies to a direct environment “at least ten meters” for sports libraries and facilities (stadiums, swimming pools, etc.) and schools or institutions that include minors.
A new text “in the coming days” is assumed that this ocean and the new traffic signs that indicate “smoking -free areas”.
These restrictions do not include electronic cigarettes, and they do not apply to the balconies of cafes and restaurants.
The ministry indicated that any violation may be punished with a fixed fine ranging between 135 and 750 euros, knowing that at the end of May, it promised a “awareness” period.
Smoking is declining in France, with the death of 75,000 people annually, while the negative exposure to tobacco smoke leads to between three thousand and five thousand deaths annually, according to official figures.
The percentage of smokers per day in France is 25 percent of adults between the ages of 18 and 75, according to 2023 statistics.
For comparison, this percentage was 8 percent in Sweden, which is the lowest in the European Union, while the highest percentage was 37 percent in Bulgaria.
The French move falls within a general approach to eliminating tobacco, as the city of Mexico, for example, banned smoking in some of its historical neighborhoods in 2022.
In Italy, the city of Milan prevented the outdoor smoking since January 1, a precedent on the peninsula.
London plans to ban smoking in external places, such as children’s players and in schools and hospitals. The draft law also aims to apply a smoking ban on the basis of age groups.
According to the draft law offered to Parliament, it will not be available to people who were born after 2009 legally purchasing cigarettes.
