Benfica renews a Ottamandy contract before confronting Chelsea

Benfica renewed the contract of its veteran Argentine defender Nicholas Utamandi for an additional year until June 2026, according to what the club announced on Friday hours before Chelsea confrontation with the price of the FIFA World Cup final.
Under the new contract, Utamandi, the world champion with the Argentine national team in 2022, will play his sixth season with the “Eagles” team.
“I still have the same ambition and the same motivation as us. We are always defending the slogan that represents us, and we will fight with everything we have,” 37 -year -old said in a video posted by Benfica to announce the renewal.
The team captain Utamendi is preparing 15 goals in 231 games in the Benfica shirt with which he won the league title in the 2022-2023 season.
Benfica qualified for the price of the Club World Cup final, leading the third group, beating Bayern Munich, and will face Chelsea on Saturday in Charlotte in a decisive match to qualify to the quarter -finals.
