"Emirates Nuclear Energy" and"Ferratom" Expect an agreement to supply nuclear fuel to "Perk"

Abu Dhabi, July 17 / WAM / The Emirates Nuclear Energy Company and the French company “Farmamom” signed a cooperation agreement, to supply nuclear fuel packages and engineering services for Baraka nuclear energy stations, in order to support the continuous operational excellence of the stations, and to enable it to continue its role in producing clean electricity around the clock, and contributing to achieving climate neutrality by 2050.

According to the agreement, the company “Farlamom” will provide complete nuclear fuel packages for use in Baraka stations, where the company has experiences that extend for decades in the manufacture and innovation of nuclear fuel, making it a strategic partner to enhance the flexibility of the fuel supply chain in the “Emirates Nuclear Energy”, and to ensure the continuation of the process of operating processes in Baraka stations and electrical energy production.

On this occasion, His Excellency Mohamed Al Hammadi, Managing Director and CEO of the Emirates Nuclear Energy Company, said that the agreement with “Farmamom” supports the company’s strategy that aims to enhance the security and reliability of the nuclear fuel supply chain, as diversity is an essential pillar to ensure the continuation of Baraka nuclear energy stations in providing safe, clean and reliable electricity, which enhances the sustainable growth of the UAE economy.

He noted the expertise of the large Fermomom Company and its commitment to international standards that add an important value of operations in Baraka stations, and contributes to consolidating the position of the stations as a global model for operating excellence in the field of clean electricity production, stressing their commitment to developing infrastructure and various capabilities in “Baraka”, in addition to their keenness to continue achieving excellence in the nuclear energy sector, where the Emirates Nuclear Energy Company continues to build on operating excellence in Baraka by strengthening safety and security, appropriate cost, and providing innovative fuel solutions.

For his part, Grigwar Ponchon, CEO of “Farlamom”, expressed their pride in providing advanced fuel for the Emirates Nuclear Energy Company, which contributes to ensuring the security of supplies, and achieves the goals of the UAE in the clean energy sector, stressing that the agreement highlights the company’s advanced technologies and reliability of its cadres to provide exceptional services to partners.

Fuel beams will be manufactured in an Farmamom facility in the United States, which has obtained a license for the American Nuclear Supervision Commission, and has obtained the highest ranking of the American Commission under the 18 -year -old license performance review program.

“Farmamum” has experiences of more than 40 years in the manufacture of fuel solutions, including reactors’ fuel like those in Baraka stations, as it has produced more than 6000 fuel packages of this type over the past forty years.

Baraka is still a global model for new nuclear energy projects, as the Emirates Nuclear Energy Company was able to operate the Baraka stations – which includes four APR -1400 reactors, in just eight years, while the company continues to explore strategic opportunities that support the growth of the global peaceful nuclear sector, while ensuring that Baraka stations remain a basic pillar of the energy mix in the UAE.
