Abu Dhabi, July 18/ WAM/ The “General Command of Sharjah Police” succeeded through a qualitative and tight security operation – from Toronto to Spain, to the state’s coasts – in dismantling an international criminal network involved in smuggling and promoting narcotic substances, and controlling a marine shipment weighing (131) kilograms of narcotic substances and mental effects, along with the arrest of seven accused inside the state, between them, between them A person of an Arab nationality who took advantage of his wife and two children with a cover in smuggling.
The threads of the case began to monitor one of the Arab defendants who frequent the state with his family, where his movements and organized meetings were tracked with internal elements, so that investigations resulted in the network’s detection and seizure of its elements successively, through accurate ambushes carried out by drug control teams, and the accused in his pivotal role in smuggling the shipment, in cooperation with his wife, confessed to using the method of promotion through the “coordinate sites” to hide and distribute the materials Narcotics.
With the deepening of the investigations, five other Asian nationalities were caused, which were proven involved in the same network in receiving, promotion and distribution.
Intelligence information also led to the discovery of a sea smuggling line linking the port of Toronto in Canada to the port of Malaga in Spain, to one of the state’s ports, where a new shipment was intercepted inside a container loaded with car parts, which was intended for smuggling in the name of one of the involved.
The total seizures amounted to 131 kilograms of narcotic substances and psychotropic substances, and 9,945 capsules of narcotic drugs, in addition to a number of tools and technologies used in promotion and location.
The defendants were referred to the competent judicial authorities, while the Ministry of Interior, in coordination with the counterparts in a number of countries, continued to pursue the rest of the elements related to the network outside the state, and take legal measures to complete the dismantling of its international extensions.
Brigadier Majid Sultan Al -Asma, Director of the Drug Control Department at Sharjah Police, stressed that the control teams possess high readiness and qualitative experience to ward off the dangers of this scourge, stressing that the efforts of the UAE in this field stems from a comprehensive national strategy that takes this file a top priority.
For his part, Brigadier Abdul Rahman Al -Owais, Deputy Director General of Federal Narcotics Control and Chairman of the Drug Enforcement Committee, said that the Ministry of Interior is in the process of completing coordination with the international bodies to pursue external elements, praising the integration of efforts between the police leaders in the country, which enabled the UAE to export global security indicators, and establish its position among the world’s most secure and safe countries.
