Abu Dhabi Councils of the Office of Citizens and Community Affairs at the Presidential Office, in cooperation with the Creative Laboratory, launches "Family photo award"

ABU DHABI, 13 March / WAM / The Abu Dhabi Councils of the Office of Citizens and Community Affairs at the Presidential Office, in cooperation with the Creative Laboratory, have opened the door for participation in the “Family Photo Award” photography competition, which calls on members of society in the Emirates to document authentic moments that reflect family cohesion and the depth of relationships between family members.
This competition falls within the framework of the “Year of the Family” activities in the UAE, and is part of the “Family Portrait” initiative launched by the Creative Lab, and aims to highlight the role of family cohesion in consolidating common values, enhancing the continuity of cultural identity, and supporting community cohesion.
Through the art of photography, participants have the opportunity to express meaningful moments that embody warmth, belonging, and bonds between generations.
Entries will continue to be received via the electronic platform until May 29, 2026, and the winners will be announced on June 15, 2026.
The selected works will be displayed alongside the winning photos in an art exhibition held during the 2026 Union Day celebrations, to celebrate creativity and community participation.
The “Family Photo Award” honors three distinguished entries, with the first place winner receiving 25,000 dirhams, the second place winner receiving 15,000 dirhams, and the third place winner receiving 10,000 dirhams.
A jury composed of experts in the media industry reviews entries to select works according to the highest standards of creativity, suitability and quality.
The competition links the creative sense to the family, which constitutes one of the most important pillars of society, and by highlighting talent in this purposeful subject, the competition celebrates artistic expression that reflects the spirit of unity, shared experiences, and bonds that strengthen community cohesion.
Aisha Al-Junaibi, Director of Talent Management at the Creative Media Authority, said that the family plays a pivotal role in instilling confidence, creativity and ambition in individuals, and through the Family Portrait Award we seek to urge various segments of society to express their vision and share stories that reflect the values that unite us. In the Creative Lab, we continue our commitment to nurturing talent and content makers across the United Arab Emirates by providing platforms for developing storytelling and creative expression and supporting emerging talents.
For her part, Salwa Al-Hadrami, Head of the Creative Content and Creative Community Projects Department at the Creative Media Authority, said: We invite photographers, emerging creative content makers, and members of the creative talent community to participate in this initiative and present their own visions. The Family Photo Initiative represents an opportunity to contribute to a national moment, by telling stories visually and celebrating the relationships that shape our experiences and inspire creative expression across generations.
Through this cooperation, the Abu Dhabi Councils of the Office of Citizens and Community Affairs in the Presidential Office and the Creative Laboratory continue to support initiatives that enhance community participation, highlight talent in the creative media sector, and consolidate the role of the family in building a cohesive society capable of facing challenges.
Each participant has the right to submit one photograph that is compatible with the theme of the award, provided that the photo reflects aesthetic value and clear meaning, and documents shared experiences between family members, and faces do not need to appear clearly.
Entries must be submitted in “JPEG” or “JPG” format, with a size of no less than 5 MB, and a resolution of no less than 300 dpi.
Photos must not contain any signature, stamp, identification mark, frame, date or time marks.
Artistic adjustments are allowed without exaggeration, and images that are excessively modified or generated using artificial intelligence techniques are excluded.
