The Minister of Economy stresses the importance of the involvement of national cadres in the tourism sector

Abu Dhabi, July 22 / WAM / His Excellency Abdullah bin Touq Al -Marri, Minister of Economy and Tourism, Chairman of the Emirates Tourism Council, briefed on the progress of the “Summer Hospitality Camp” program recently launched by the Ministry in cooperation with a group of tourist and hotel facilities in the country.
This came during the visit of Minister Al -Marri, a number of hotel establishments in the country; Where he inspected the summer initiatives and activities organized by the camp, met a number of students participating in it, and reviewed their field experience in the hotel work environment, and discussed with representatives of the host hotels to enhance cooperation in developing human capabilities in the hospitality sector, and expanding the initiative in the future.
Al -Marri said that the tourism sector represents an essential pillar in the national economy system, and is receiving growing attention in light of the vision of the rational leadership that focuses on diversifying the economy and sustaining growth, stressing the ministry’s keenness to support tourism and hotel facilities in the country, and to enhance communication channels and cooperation with partners from the private sector, through the development of field partnerships and follow -up of the progress of initiatives on the ground, in a way that contributes to standing in the progress of progress in implementation Programs, and evaluate their direct impact on national competencies and the sector in general.
He added that the summer hospitality camp aims to build competencies and empower students and qualify them in the field to engage in the labor market in one of the most developed sectors in the state, stressing the ministry’s belief in the importance of providing practical training opportunities for young people, helping them to understand the environment of tourism work, and strengthens their readiness to actively participate in the growth of this vital sector.
He explained that the ministry will continue to develop similar training initiatives to build an integrated system for human resources development in the tourism sector, in order to support the achievement of the “National Tourism Strategy 2031”, in the forefront of which is the development of tourism capabilities and the encouragement of national cadres to enter the tourism sector, enhance the national tourism identity, and increase the contribution of tourism to the gross domestic product, stressing that investing in national human capital is a strategic choice It enhances the sustainability and competitiveness of the tourism sector in the country.
More than 500 students belonging to about 200 educational institutions in the country, in cooperation with more than 40 tourist and hotel facilities in the emirates of the country, participate in the current edition of the “Summer Hospital” camp.
The hospitality sector in the UAE recorded a remarkable growth during the first quarter of 2025, where hotel revenues amounted to 13.5 billion dirhams, supported by increasing the number of visitors that exceeded 8.4 million people, and an increase of 2% compared to the first quarter of 2024, and the total number of nights seized in hotels reached more than 29.3 million nights, while hotel occupancy rates recorded high levels 81.3%.
