8 new amendments from “FIFA” trained by “stadium judges” in Türkiye

The former international referee in football, Abdullah Al-Aji, said that the new amendments announced by the International Football Association Council (FIFA), recently, for the game’s law, will be applied as of the new season 2025-2026, pointing out that these amendments will be explained to the players ‘judges during the current external camp in Turkey, which is organized in two batches within the referees’ preparations for the new season.

Al -Aji explained to «Emirates Today» that the amendments, which included eight points, all aim to reduce arbitration errors, reduce protests, and reduce players’ injuries, with a focus on protecting the players on the field, and stressed that the amendments made by FIFA from time to time are based on the basic aspects of the game law.

He added that one of the most prominent amendments is the amendment of Article (3), which states that the team leader only is allowed to speak with the referee during the match, and not all players, as the amendments included Article (5) that gives the referee the right to use the recession signal to the goalkeeper in the last five seconds of eight seconds allowed to possess the ball, in order to prevent wasting time during the match.

Abdullah Al -Aji said that the new amendments also aim to clarify the law, especially in dialectical arbitration cases, and pointed out that the amendments also came to accelerate the game during the matches and limit the waste of time, in a way that enhances the positive performance.

Al -Ajla continued: “The new amendments adopted by the International Football Association Council came more clear than its predecessors, which helps the stadium judges better manage matches.”

It is noteworthy that the stadium judges are currently residing an external camp in Turkey, which started on the 24th of this month, and will continue until August 17, and aims to raise the physical, technical and mental efficiency of the referees, according to the highest international arbitration standards, in preparation for the new season.

92 referee and assistants will participate in the camp, which were divided into two groups, the first of which includes 54 rulers and assistants (including four female rulers) to manage the Presidential Cup competitions, the ADNOC Professional League, the Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank Cup, and the Super Emaar Cup, while the second group includes 38 referee and assistants, and they are charged with managing the first -class matches and other competitions.
