Dubai stay" An awareness workshop is organized on the new media system in cooperation with the Emirates Media Council

Dubai, July 30 / WAM / The General Administration of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai, in cooperation with the Emirates Media Council, organized the first introductory awareness workshop of its kind at the state level on the “new media system”, in the building of the Officers Club of the Administration, in the presence of His Excellency Lieutenant General Mohamed Ahmed Al -Marri, Director General of the Administration, and His Excellency Abdullah bin Dalmouk, CEO of the Hamdan bin Mohammed Center for the Revival of Heritage, and a number of leaders and employees.
The workshop aimed to raise the level of media awareness among administration employees and enhance their commitment to national legislation and media content standards, in order to support institutional communication strategy and enhance the positive image of society and partners.
Al -Marri emphasized that the media is no longer just a means of reporting the news, but today it has become the cornerstone of the institutional image industry, which is a collective responsibility that requires all of us to verify the validity of the information and verify its accuracy before it is circulated.
He pointed out that the reputation of the UAE, its institutions and members is a national responsibility that cannot be tolerated, especially in light of the policy of openness that the state pursues with the world, pointing out that “the new system of media will be the basic reference for all forms of media work, including social media advertisements,” describing the workshop as “a great opportunity to understand a deeper understanding of the new media tools and how to use it in serving the national image.”
His Excellency also pointed out that the establishment of Dubai is the first government agency in the country to organize an awareness workshop on the new system of media in cooperation with the Emirates Media Council, which embodies its leadership role in supporting national efforts to enhance responsible media practices.
His Excellency Metha Al -Suwaidi, Executive Director of the Strategy and Media Policy Sector in the Emirates Media Council, stressed that the new media system constitutes a major transformation station in the path of developing the media sector in the UAE, to keep pace with digital transformations, and enhances the role of the media as a partner in development and an engine for the national economy.
Her Excellency said: “The media is no longer confined to traditional institutions. Rather, it has become part of the daily life of every individual, which makes it necessary to educate all segments of society about the new media legislation.” Her Excellency indicated that the current system is a fruit of more than two years of work since the establishment of the Emirates Media Council in 2023, and included the issuance of the media regulating law, its executive regulations and a set of regulatory decisions, reflecting the state’s vision towards a flexible media sector, effective, and attractive to investment and talents.
Her Excellency concluded by emphasizing the importance of institutional cooperation and enhancing awareness of legislation, praising the initiative of the General Administration of Identity and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai to organize this session, which contributes to the consolidation of a more clear and sustainable media environment.
Ibrahim Khadem, Director of the Media Licensing Department at the Emirates Media Council spoke, stressing that the new system of media is the system of all, based on the principle of partnership in responsibility and enhances coordination between the parties.
And he thanked “Dubai’s establishment” for organizing this qualitative workshop, noting that “our role lies in monitoring and dealing with media challenges effectively, especially with regard to how to deal with false news, as the system provides a clear framework for dealing responsible with these phenomena.”
The workshop’s agenda axes were distributed to major stations that started with a comprehensive view of the general vision of the new media system, and then discussed the media sectors covered by the regime, through a review of challenges and opportunities in the media sector in light of the development of the digital scene, in addition to explaining the media regulation law and highlighted its items related to licenses and content, and concluded with the axis Media messages.
An interactive space for dialogue and questions was also devoted, which affected the discussion and enhanced the understanding of the participants of the tools and mechanisms of implementing the new system. The workshop concluded with a remarkable interaction and constructive discussions, which reflected the importance of developing media awareness in supporting the institutional image.
The initiative comes within the efforts of “Dubai Establishment” to enhance its role as a leading government agency in the field of institutional communication and reputation management, in line with the leadership of the leadership aimed at employing the media as a tool for development and consolidating community confidence.
