Protection of workers from heat stress is a societal culture in the Emirates

Abu Dhabi, August 11/ WAM/ The UAE is witnessing a great momentum in the launch of humanitarian initiatives aimed at protecting the workers category in field jobs from the dangers of thermal stress, in a clear indication of the size of the care and attention that the Emirati society attaches from individuals and institutions for workers safety and enhancing their well -being and protecting their rights.
These initiatives are characterized by the diversity of their methods and tools, as they include ensuring air -conditioned umbrellas, the provision of colds, cold water and ice cream, and providing integrated diets, leading to the distribution of sunglasses and sunscreen, in addition to organizing awareness campaigns about the dangers of exposure to thermal exhaustion in the summer.
These initiatives implemented by official and civil institutions embody the reality of moral principles and noble human values of the UAE, which have succeeded in transforming the protection and promotion of workers’ rights into a firm culture among the various components of society.
The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation has announced the provision of more than 10 thousand air -conditioned breaks equipped with amenities for the purpose of their use by delivery services workers in all regions of the country during the period of implementation of the “Labor Prohibition at noon” extending from June 15 to September 15 of each year, in cooperation with the relevant government agencies and the private sector.
In turn, the General Women’s Union continues to implement the “Water/ Fatima Bint Mubarak” initiative, which extends during the three summer months, August and September, and targets thousands of workers in various regions of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, and includes the distribution of water, juices and dates, in addition to providing protective umbrellas and protection means to alleviate the impact of heat during peak hours.
For its part, the Abu Dhabi Police implemented the “cold summer” initiative for workers in the construction sites in Al -Ain in cooperation with the first Abu Dhabi Bank, and included the distribution of water, sunglasses and sunscreen and in coordination with the branch of labor affairs in the Al Ain Police Directorate.
The Traffic Department and Security Patrols in the Al Ain area of the Traffic and Patrols Directorate in Abu Dhabi Police also implemented the “Safe Shadl” initiative in which it targeted 500 people from the category of workers who work in various professions in a number of areas of Al Ain.
The initiative included the distribution of cold water packages, solar caps and other preventive supplies to protect them from the sun’s heat.
In turn, the second version of the societal social campaign “Al -Freij Refrigerator”, which comes with the support of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Initiative Foundation, and launched by “Ferjan Dubai”, in cooperation with the Emirates Foundation and Emirates Food Bank, in the distribution of more than a million packages of water, juices and ice cream to workers in Dubai, during one month since its inception on June 23.
Al -Freij refrigerator targets cleaners and construction workers and drivers of delivery of requests and agricultural workers to the streets and roads, and the mechanism of their implementation depends on refrigerated distribution cars that roam the various areas of the Emirate of Dubai, to deliver water, juices and ice cream directly to the workers ’sites, in addition to providing fixed refrigerators in their housing, and the campaign also attracts a wide participation of volunteers from different groups of society to contribute to distribution operations.
The Emirati Red Crescent – Ajman Center organized its humanitarian initiative to “tell their thirst”, with the aim of distributing water and cold juices to workers in their various workplaces, especially those working in open sites during the afternoon periods.
More than 600 workers benefited from the initiative that was organized in several places from the Emirate of Ajman, such as the Ministry of Culture, the Safia Park and a number of mosques of the emirate.
The Beit Al -Khair Association participated in the campaign to prohibit work at noon launched by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, by distributing 550 food meals attached to the refrigerated water and juices to workers in various work sites within a humanitarian initiative aimed at alleviating the impact of high temperatures during the summer months.
