"Sharjah Prize for Voluntary Work" It enhances the sustainable volunteer approach among students

Sharjah, August 16 / WAM / The Sharjah Prize for Voluntary Work continues its efforts to consolidate the culture of volunteering for the emerging generation, by launching initiatives targeting school and university students, foremost of which is the “University Student Awards for the Highest Voluntary Participations” and “Voluntary Work Faris”, within the framework of seeing the award aimed at enhancing the sustainable volunteer approach, and motivating young people to contribute the effective community to serve the community.
The “University Student Award for the Highest Voluntary Participants” is awarded to university students from 17 to 25 years old, who are not enrolled in jobs, provided that more than 100 voluntary hours are documented during the year of participation, through the approved official platforms, while the “Voluntary Work Fares” award targets school students over the age of 13 years, who have accomplished at least 100 documented hours.
His Excellency Souad Al Shamsi, Executive Director of the Award, stressed that the award focuses on supporting the qualitative participation of students in the fields of volunteer work, and works to refine their skills and enhance the values of giving and national affiliation with them, explaining that the youth category represents an essential pillar in the future of volunteer work.
She praised the efforts of universities and schools in supporting volunteer work, especially educational initiatives that adopt volunteering within the graduation requirements.
She added that the “Volunteer Work” award is concerned with planting volunteer values among students from an early age, through programs, workshops and awareness lectures, which are organized periodically, with the aim of developing the societal personality of children and investing their free time in a positive way that returns and society.
