Emirati women .. a pioneering march in political empowerment

Abu Dhabi, August 23 / WAM / The UAE provided a unique experience in the political empowerment of women, the fruit of its firm belief in its efficiency and its ability to achieve the positive and qualitative impact in the various sectors of work, and the active contribution to the sustainable development process in the state.
The decision to raise the percentage of women’s representation in the Federal National Council to 50 % in the year 2019 was the approach of the rational leadership in promoting political empowerment of women, which put the UAE in the first place in the Arab world and regionally in terms of the percentage of women’s membership in Parliament, and the fourth in the world, according to the International Parliamentary Union.
The march of Emirati women began in the Federal National Council in 2006 when a vice and member participated in the first electoral experience, and the formation of the council in its 14th legislative chapter included nine women like 22.5% of the members, and in Chapter 15 in 2011 seven members by 17.5%, and in the 16th chapter in 2015 eight women by 22%, up to 50% starting from the legislative chapter 17 in 2019, to the semester The current current legislative 1823.
The woman also achieved an unprecedented Arab victory, after the election of the Federal National Council in 2015, Amal Al -Qubaisi, President of the Council as the first woman to chair a parliamentary institution at the Arab level.
A number of members of the Federal National Council emphasized that the political empowerment of Emirati women reflects a bright image of the principle of partnership and integration in the country, which resulted in a set of leading national achievements in which women contributed in various sectors.
His Excellency Amna Ali Al -Adidi said that the UAE is full of a pioneering march in empowering women, especially in the political and parliamentary fields, as it has become a real partner in national decision -making, noting that this achievement did not come from a vacuum, but rather is the fruit of the insightful vision of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God rest his soul, and support the leadership of the rational state and His Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak “Mother of the Emirates” The Supreme Motherhood and Childhood, the highest president of the Family Development Corporation.
His Excellency Maryam Majid bin Thaniyeh stressed that the Emirati Women’s Day is an annual occasion to celebrate her success in all fields, especially politics and legislation, pointing out that enabling women to reach Parliament was not a passing step, but rather a living embodiment of the wise vision of the wise leadership that believed that comprehensive development is achieved only with balanced and fair participation between the sexes.
His Excellency Mona Khalifa Hammad said that the Emirati women were and still are a key partner in building the country, making its future, achieving his vision in sustainable development and global leadership, noting that what was achieved for women is the product of a wise leadership vision, integrated institutional support, the determination of women who are confident in their capabilities, continuing to give, and contributions to formulating the future of the Emirates with bright minds.
His Excellency Aisha Rashid Leitim stressed that the path that the UAE took in empowering women politically was not the result of the moment, but was based on a firm approach that the leadership adopted since the beginnings of the union, believing that women are an essential element in the process of construction and development.
She said that the members of the National Council contributed effectively to the formulation of legislation, the presentation of qualitative initiatives, and the discussion of national issues, which reflects the great confidence that society has given to the UAE daughter, and confirms that women have become an active partner in the national decision -making.
His Excellency Sumaya Abdullah bin Hareb Al -Suwaidi said that what the Emirati women have reached a leader and political empowerment due to a comprehensive development vision based on providing equal opportunities for both sexes, and empowering women in various educational, professional and political fields.
She added that the Emirati women, thanks to this vision, were able to hold advanced leadership positions, and prove their worth in the national decision -making, and their contribution extended to international forums by representing the state efficiently in the International Parliamentary Union and the Arab Parliament.
His Excellency Aisha Ibrahim Al -Marri emphasized that the Emirati women were able, thanks to the wise directives of the wise leadership, to turn into an active partner in formulating the state’s public policies, noting that her march in parliamentary work was not passing or immediate, but rather a product of historical accumulations and prominent stations that contributed to enhancing its participation.
His Excellency Mona Rashid Tahnoun said that the achievements of Emirati women in the parliamentary field would not have been achieved without the fixed support from the wise leadership, and the belief in the ability of women to participate effectively in building the state.
She pointed out that the empowerment of women was not just a slogan, but rather an integrated national path, which was manifested in the strategic policies, legislation and plans that provided her with a supportive environment, and devoted her position as an active partner in various aspects of life.
