The UAE leads the growth of solar energy projects around the world in 2025

Abu Dhabi, August 31 / WAM / The UAE reinforced the UAE in 2025 the volume of its contribution to accelerating the path of dependence on clean energy sources around the world, through a package of solar energy projects that announced its financing and implementation by a group of national companies in this field.
The UAE -led solar project map extends to the most populated continents (Asia, Africa and Europe), which enhances the positive environmental impact of these projects in terms of reducing carbon emissions and facing the challenges of climate change.
The beginning of this year witnessed the signing of a tripartite framework partnership agreement between the UAE, Italy and Albania to cooperate in the field of implementing large -scale renewable energy projects in Albania, with a focus on solar photovoltaic energy, wind energy and hybrid solutions, while part of this renewable energy will be transferred to Italy.
For its part, Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company “Masdar” continued during 2025, to expand the development of solar energy projects around the world; It announced the signing of an agreement with the “Indesa” company to acquire a 49.99% stake in four solar energy stations in Spain with a total capacity of 446 MW, which constituted an important step that contributes to expanding the activities of “Masdar” in the Iberian Peninsula and all the continent of Europe.
“Source” and the Indonesian National Electricity Company “BTBLN” (Persero) signed two agreements to develop floating solar power stations in Indonesia, which included a memorandum of understanding to develop a floating solar power station at the “Gatidaidi” Dam in the West Java Province, and “Principles Agreement” to discuss the possibility of expanding the Sherata Solar Energy Station with a capacity of 145MW.
And “Masdar”, and a coalition that includes the “GD Power” and “Korea Electric Energy” companies, announced the financial closure of the “Al -Sadawi” solar energy station project with a capacity of 2 GW, a prominent project within the National Renewable Energy Program that is supervised and led by the Ministry of Energy in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The project is located in the eastern region of the Kingdom, and it is expected that the station will become intended to generate electricity with its full capacity in the beginning of 2027, and that it will enter the commercial operation during the same year.
The Emeraj company, which is joint between Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company, “Masdar” and “EDF for Energy Solutions”, also announced the signing of a long -term agreement with the “Misk City”, northwest of the Saudi capital, Riyadh, to generate solar energy and provide sustainable electricity over the next twenty years.
Under the agreement, a 621 kilowatt solar solar power plant will be developed at a peak on the roofs of parking umbrellas and other buildings in the city.
In turn, Global South Utoletes (GSU), the Abu Dhabi -based investment company, signed two agreements with the Madagascar government, aiming to enhance the country’s ability to produce renewable energy and accelerate the pace of conversion towards clean energy.
The company will take over, according to the first agreement with the Ministry of Energy and Fueling in Madagascar, the development of a 50 -megawatt solar solar power plant, as well as a 25 -megawatt energy storage system, in Moramanga, and the project is expected to occur, after its completion, a great improvement in the performance of the connected electricity network in the capital, Antananarivo, and contributes to reducing dependence on Fossil fuels, while the second agreement draws the framework of cooperation to develop additional renewable energy projects with a total capacity of 250 megawatts.
GSU joined the “Atom Solar Egypt” project to establish an integrated industrial complex to produce cells and solar panels, with investments of $ 220 million (about 810 million dirhams).
The complex, which is held in the industrial Sokhna area “Teda”, affiliated with the General Authority of the Suez Canal Economic Zone, will include an area of ​​200 thousand square meters, a factory for the production of solar cells with a capacity of 2 gigawatts for export to global markets, and a factory for the production of solar panels with a capacity of 2 gigawatts to meet the needs of Egypt, the region and Africa.
The company, in cooperation with the Ministry of Electricity and Energy in Yemen, announced the opening and operation of the Shabwa Solar Energy Station in the city of Ataq in Shabwa Governorate, which has a production capacity of 53 MW, and is equipped with a system of storage batteries with a capacity of 15 megawatts/hour, which is now complete and ready to provide about 330 thousand homes with clean electricity.
The company also announced during the current year the start of the construction of a 50 -megawage solar solar power plant in Sakai, Central Africa, to provide clean electricity for more than 300,000 homes across the country.
Last April witnessed the inauguration of the solar power plant in the United Republic of the United Natel, funded by the Abu Dhabi Development Fund at a cost of 25.7 million dirhams.

The station, whose production capacity reaches 6.3 megawatts, will contribute to raising the efficiency of the energy sector and sustaining it from renewable sources, in addition to reducing carbon emissions harmful to the environment, maintaining natural resources and reducing the effects of climate change.
