UAE and India are looking to expand the benefit of the comprehensive economic partnership agreement

Mumbai, August 31 / WAM / The UAE and the Republic of India are seeking to expand the benefit of more economic sectors from the facilities and stimuli provided by the comprehensive economic partnership agreement between the two friendly countries.
In this context, His Excellency Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al -Zyoudi, Minister of Foreign Trade, held during an official visit to Mumbai, bilateral talks with His Excellency Bio Goyal, Minister of Industry and Trade in India, and met a number of senior business leaders and private sector representatives; Where the mechanisms of expanding the benefit of more sectors were discussed from the agreement that entered into force in May 2022, and continues to contribute an active role in stimulating mutual commercial and investment flows.
The meeting of His Excellency Al -Zyoudi, with His Excellency Goyal, focused on ways to take full advantage of the comprehensive economic partnership agreement between the UAE and India, and the sectors that still need to use more than the advantages of reaching the markets provided by this promising partnership.
This was followed by a series of meetings with senior officials in the logistical services, agriculture, health care and technology sectors, in addition to a round table meeting organized by the Indian Industries Union, the FICCI Chambers and Industry Federation, and the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry associated with India (Assyocham), with the aim of coordinating priorities and enhancing trade and investment flows.
His Excellency Dr. Al -Zyoudi stressed the strength of the economic partnership between the two countries and the importance of direct dialogue in enhancing transit cooperation between them in all sectors of common concern.
He said: “The visit reflects our joint commitment to continuing to improve our strategic relations to new horizons to achieve our economic goals, during which we exchanged visions and ideas with senior officials and capable of business on ways to benefit from the capabilities that have not yet been exploited from the comprehensive economic partnership agreement between our friendly states.”
He added: “The comprehensive economic partnership agreement between the UAE and India plays a pivotal role in consolidating trade and investment relations by enhancing market access, increasing industrial productivity, and facilitating cooperation in priority sectors. The numbers confirm this; in the first half of 2025, the value of non -oil bilateral trade between the two countries reached 37.6 billion US dollars, an increase of 33.9% compared to the same period last year, which is an important progress towards Achieving the ambitious goals that we set when signing the agreement, and in light of this, it is necessary that we continue to take advantage of our economic integration points, and provide wider opportunities for the private sector on both sides.
During his visit, His Excellency Dr. Thani Al -Zyoudi attended a clarification presentation on the developments of the “Mart Spices” project, a complex with an area of 2.7 million square feet and is located in the free zone in Jabal Ali (Jafza) in the UAE and managed by Dubai World Ports, will allow the Indian manufacturers and exporters to display their products and benefit from the UAE’s position as a global commercial center to reach the markets of the Middle East and Africa And Europe.
His Excellency also attended meetings with the leaders of the drug and food sectors, where representatives of the two sectors from the Emirates and India discussed the performance of exports, discussed existing challenges, methods of promoting bilateral trade, and exploring new areas of joint cooperation.
His Excellency Al -Zyoudi concluded his visit by attending a dinner party with industry and business leaders in India, with the aim of strengthening the relations and cooperation between the private sector in the two countries.
