Athletics Federation: Building new teams for global competition at the top of priorities
Dubai, September 7/ WAM/ The Emirates Athletics Federation confirmed its continued strategy to build new teams, discover talents, and develop the capabilities of players and players, with the adoption of stimulating initiatives, to achieve national achievements.
His Excellency Major General Dr. Mohamed Abdullah Al -Murr, President of the Federation, said that work in the first session started from scratch, with the establishment of a new system and a base of emerging players, and setting a strategic plan targeting the Olympic Games in 2028 and 2032, and was received by the approval of the National Olympic Committee, and the Ministry of Sports, with the support of His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Balah Al -Falasi, Minister of Sports.
Al -Murr indicated in a statement today, after his election yesterday, as president of the federation for the new session 2025-2028, that the UAE athletics have achieved many achievements at all levels in the Arab, Gulf and Asian, with the presence of distinguished players who recorded numbers that are the best in the world, and qualify them to compete in all forums.
He stated that the next stage will be more challenging than the previous one, based on the achievements that were achieved, explaining that the federation benefited from the General Team in the Sharjah Sports Club for Women, and established a competitive team in the junior category to achieve the best results.
He announced the intention of the federation to host some continental championships in the coming period after the great success of the Asian Youth Championships under 20 years, and half of the Asian Marathon, in 2023 and 2024, in cooperation with the AFC.
He explained that the efforts made in the first session contributed to enhancing cooperation with the international and Asian federations, and the presence of members of the union in the various Arab, continental and international committees, praising the great work of all members, and the positive role of women’s elements in discovering talented.
