Launching a platform "transformation" The first integrated national digital market for trade and recyclable materials

Sharjah, September 18 / WAM / The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment announced the official launch of the “Transfer” platform, the first integrated national digital market for trade and circulation of recyclable materials in the Emirates.

The “Transfer” platform project, which is implemented by the Ministry in cooperation with “Environment”, is one of the transformative projects of the federal government agencies for the year 2024-2025, which represents qualitative initiatives that lead the state towards the future and enhance its global competitiveness.

This investigation project comes within the government’s efforts to enhance the circular economy system and the integrated waste management in the country, which contributes to creating a new economic value of resources and supporting the achievement of sustainable development targets.

This project supports the transfers of the UAE government’s endeavor to accelerate the achievement of its targets to be the global center for the new economy during the next ten years, as part of the vision of “We Emirates 2031”, which requires qualitative and double efforts that contribute to achieving government aspirations and reflects positively on society and various state sectors.

The announcement came during a special event held at the headquarters of the main “environment” in Sharjah, on the sidelines of the fourth meeting of the “Emirates Council for Environmental and Municipal Work”.

During the event, it was announced by signing a strategic partnership between the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment and “Environment”, in the presence of His Excellency Dr. Amna Bint Abdullah Al -Dahhak, Minister of Climate Change and Environment, Khaled Al -Huraimel, CEO and Deputy Chairman of the Board of the “Environment” group, along with a number of leaders of both sides.

His Excellency Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al -Dahhak said: The launch of the ‘transforming’ platform represents an embodiment of the vision of our rational leadership in converting environmental challenges into promising economic and development opportunities and today, we move by managing waste from its traditional concept to a new economic space, in which we create an added value for our resources, and support innovative and sustainable business models in line with our national ambitions and vision of the UAE 2031.

She added that this platform, which comes as one of the state’s transformational projects, is an integrated system that aims to enhance transparency and efficiency in the market for recycling, and enabling small, medium and major companies to enter the heart of the circular economy by creating an organized national market, which stimulates increased recycling rates and reduces dependence on dumps, which directly contributes to achieving our climatic and environmental targets.

Her Excellency said that our cooperation with a ‘environment’ in this project is an example to be followed by the active partnership between the governmental and private sectors, and it is a model for the integrated national cooperation that we seek to move towards a sustainable future in all sectors, expressing its confidence that the ‘transformation’ will be a major driver to consolidate the UAE’s position as a leading global center for the new and sustainable economy.

For his part, Khaled Al -Huraimel said that the “transformation” platform is a qualitative leap towards a circular economy ready for the future in the Emirates, noting that “RI.AF”, which is affiliated with “environment”, which specializes in trade and exchange of recyclable materials, has achieved rapid growth at the national level and has expanded internationally during the past few years.

He said that the “Transforming” platform will add a new value to the circular economy on a large scale by strengthening it with advanced technologies and expertise accumulated by “RIV”, and we are also looking to continue cooperation with various entities to provide new opportunities to convert waste to resources that contribute to rationalizing the costs of companies and industries, and at the same time enhancing the sustainable goals of the environment and societies.

His Excellency Alia Al -Harmudi, Assistant Undersecretary for the Sustainable Communities Sector at the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, stressed that the “transfer” platform represents a practical application of the efforts of the Ministry of Climate Change and the Environment in the government “Bureaucracy” initiative, where the platform works to support the business in the waste management sector by enabling the ministry to remove barriers and facilitate direct communication within an integrated and safe network in the sector. The platform is a direct digital channel based on transparency that combines the producers of recyclable materials and buyers, which reduces time and effort and enhances the efficiency of commercial operations, which supports the business environment in the country and enhances its competitiveness.

According to cooperation between the Ministry of Climate Change and the Environment and “Environment”, coordination will be with the local authorities specialized in the waste management to facilitate the exchange of rotable materials between the various emirates of the country, in addition to making efforts to raise the level of awareness and enhance the use of the platform in addition to that, training and technical support will be provided to users.

The new platform is based on the technology advanced by “RIF”, which is affiliated with “Environment” specialized in trade and exchange of recyclable materials.

The “transformation” is a virtual market that facilitates transparent and fair trading for various categories of recyclable materials, including minerals, plastic, paper, wood, electronic waste, glass, and rubber.

The platform provides various trading options to enable buyers and sellers, such as time auctions, partial auctions, immediate sale, and immediate purchase, ensuring fair pricing and creating equal opportunities for all parties.

The platform links institutions and companies directly, which eliminates the need for brokers and enhances the efficiency of transactions.

In order to conduct commercial trading operations, users are required to have a valid commercial license.

The Emirates Council held Environmental and Municipal Action for the fourth meeting of 2025 headed by His Excellency Dr. Amna Al -Dahhak and discussed a number of vital topics aimed at enhancing joint work at the state level in the environmental and municipal fields.

The meeting also discussed major topics, which included the most prominent topics on the agenda of reshaping the Emirates Council for Environmental and Municipal Action, the draft cabinet decision on the minimum waste disposal fees in the dumps, and the draft development of the Ras Al -Khor Reserve for Wildlife, in addition to preparations for the afforestation week in the Emirates, which will be launched and celebrated in the country during the period between 24 and September 28.
