"Justice" Organize a conference "The role of the central authorities in recovering assets"

Abu Dhabi, September 22 / WAM / The activities of the “Central Authority’s Role in Fundamentals” conference were launched at the headquarters of the Ministry of Justice in Abu Dhabi, with the participation of official delegations and experts from 14 countries, along with a number of specialized international organizations.

His Excellency Judge Abdul Rahman Murad Al -Balushi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Justice for the Acting International Cooperation and Legal Affairs Sector, welcomed the participants, stressing that the recovery of assets is a basic pillar in international efforts to combat corruption, money laundering and organized crime, including drug smuggling and terrorist financing.

He explained that the central authorities play a pivotal role as the official authority to communicate between countries, in a way that ensures the effectiveness of international cooperation in this field.

He pointed out that efforts to recover assets are not limited to tracing illegal wealth and confiscation, but rather extending to their legitimate owners and employing them in the service of development, promoting institutions and consolidating justice.

Al -Balushi added that the development and expansion of crimes, especially the use of virtual assets such as cryptocurrencies and digital symbols, imposes new challenges that require advanced tools, specialized expertise and close international cooperation, pointing out that the conference represents a platform to exchange best practices and discuss common challenges, and to explore new opportunities to enhance international cooperation in combating economic crimes and developing mechanisms of transit assets for borders, including Supports the common goal of consolidating justice.

The conference will continue until September 24, and its agenda includes discussion sessions and offers presented by delegations from the UAE, France, Poland, Spain, the United Kingdom and Australia, along with other European countries such as the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Norway and Sweden.

Representatives of the European Prosecution Office, Juruzst, and representatives of the United Nations Office on Narcotics and Crime, and the federal and local prosecutions, the Ministry of Interior and the Financial Information Unit.

Participants discuss digital transformation in the field of asset recovery, as well as the legal and technical challenges associated with it.

The conference will witness open sessions to exchange experiences, and to launch digital initiatives on the third day, in addition to bilateral meetings between delegations to enhance practical cooperation.

The organization of the conference comes within the framework of the efforts of the Ministry of Justice to enhance transparency and develop national legislation in line with the best international standards in combating money laundering and recovering assets.
