The United Nations in its 80th year is inspired by the legacy

The word Guterres came during the effectiveness of a wreath in the permanent headquarters in New York in honor of the Dag Hamrchold anniversary, saying that we are meeting in conjunction with the United Nations celebration of its eighties, to honor one of the most courageous engineers in its history.
Hummashold was appointed Secretary -General of the United Nations in 1953, at the age of 47, and he is still the youngest person to take the highest position in the United Nations ever.
On September 18, 1961, during his second term, he died in a plane crash while on his way to negotiate the cease -fire in the Congo.
Secretary -General Antonio Guterres said that Dag Hamrshold. He was a leader with exceptional ability, integrity and conviction. He was a man with a firm commitment to the vision and values of our organization. Today we honor his memory, and the memory of the United Nations employees who died with him. He stressed that their families deserve the peace that the truth can provide.
He pointed out that the former chief of Tanzania judges, Mohamed Shandi Othman, submitted a report last year on his investigations into the circumstances of the death of Dag Hammarshled and the members of the accompanying group. “Although countries have revealed new information, there is likely to have other relevant information that has not yet been provided.”
Guterres explained that he asked Judge Othman Shandi to continue his work, to submit a report at this time next year, stressing that he would do his best to support him, including by engaging with member states. He urged all parties to reveal all the relevant information in their possession. He said: “We should never stop searching for the truth.”
The Secretary -General said that Dagh Hesmshold was clearly visible in his devotion to international cooperation, noting that the United Nations, despite the eight decades of challenges and transformations, still stands a symbol of cooperation and the common goal, inspired by the words of Hemrchold: “Learn to live together without a war will remain a painful and continuous challenge.”
The Secretary -General indicated that Hummashold did not avoid this fact, but rather confronted her with patience, determination and hope.
