UAE and Canada are discussing enhancing cooperation in the aviation, transport and logistical sectors

Abu Dhabi, September 28 / WAM / His Excellency Abdullah bin Touq Al -Marri, Minister of Economy and Tourism, affirmed the depth of relations between the United Arab Emirates and Canada, which witnessed a remarkable development in various fields, especially economic, investment and tourism, in light of the support of the leaders of the two friendly countries for the growth of economic partnership between the two sides. This came during his meeting with His Excellency Stephen McCainon, the Canadian Minister of Transport, who was held on the sidelines of the “Interest -Alberta – Alberta” event, which witnessed a wide participation of business leaders, investors, innovators, officials, decision makers and entrepreneurs in the two countries.

His Excellency said, “We look forward to strengthening bilateral relations between our two countries and upgrading them to new horizons that support the growth and prosperity of the economy of the two countries, by expanding and diversifying the areas of cooperation, especially in the sectors of the new economy, tourism, aviation, transportation, logistics and entrepreneurship, which contributes to supporting the development agenda of the two countries and enhances the flexibility and competitiveness of the business environment in them.”

The two sides discussed the mechanisms of enhancing joint air transport, by increasing flights through national tankers in the two countries, which will contribute greatly to supporting economic growth in general, enhancing the momentum of tourism movement in particular, and providing new opportunities for investment and expansion in this vital sector.

During the meeting, His Excellency reviewed a set of plans and projects related to the aviation, transportation and logistical support sectors in the country, which aims to achieve the broader national goals in the field of sustainability, including the expansion of economic partnerships with vital markets regionally and globally, and the transformation into a regional center in sustainable aviation fuel, and the adoption of advanced technologies in transportation, as well as expanding green transport projects.

During their meeting, the two parties discussed ways to exchange experiences and best practices in the fields of safety standards and environmental protection, and to adopt the latest advanced technologies to enhance the efficiency of operational operations, and innovative policies in the field of transport were discussed, with the aim of supporting sustainable development and enhancing the quality of air services, in a way that contributes to the consolidation of the two countries’ position as two pioneering directions for air transport and aviation.

The meeting witnessed the call of the Canadian side to take advantage of the promising opportunities in the aviation sector in the state markets and the vital projects related to the relevant geographical location that the UAE enjoys, and the global level infrastructure that supports the operation of this vital sector with high efficiency.
