The UAE participates in Africa Energy Week

Abu Dhabi on October 1 / WAM / The UAE, represented by the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, participated in the conference held at the activities of the African Energy Week hosted by South Africa.
The delegation of the state was chaired by His Excellency Eng. Sharif Al -Alami, Undersecretary for Energy and Petroleum Affairs, who delivered an opening speech in which he stressed the importance of strengthening international cooperation to achieve the goals of energy transformation, pointing to the pioneering role played by the UAE in supporting global sustainability paths.
His Excellency also highlighted the global alliance for energy efficiency launched by the UAE to double the rate of energy efficiency improvement to more than 4% annually by 2030.
He called on African countries and energy companies to join it in a way that contributes to exchanging experiences, accelerating the shifts towards clean energy, unifying efforts and accelerating the pace of global progress in the field of energy efficiency, in a way that contributes to building a green and sustainable future for the whole world.
The Undersecretary for Energy and Petroleum Affairs said: “This alliance reflects the state’s commitment to put energy efficiency at the forefront of the global energy and climate agenda.”
On the sidelines of the conference, His Excellency Eng. Sharif Al -Alami held a series of bilateral meetings with the Minister of Energy, Petroleum and Minerals and a number of energy officials in the African continent, to discuss opportunities for joint cooperation, and review the UAE initiatives in the areas of energy efficiency and sustainability, in addition to discussing ways to join more African countries to the global alliance for energy efficiency.
