Mounir Adeeb: The Brotherhood’s embezzlement in Sweden exposes the group’s financing and affects Europe’s position towards it

Mounir Adeeb, a researcher specializing in the affairs of extremist groups, said that the incident of the Brotherhood’s embezzlement in Sweden of more than 100 million dollars, This development is not new to the group, confirming that the history of the Brotherhood is full of similar incidents.
Adeeb added in a statement to “Rosa Al-Yousef Gate” that the amount that was embezzled in Sweden is not the first of its kind, as it was preceded by the Hamas movement’s announcement of the embezzlement of about half a billion dollars in donation funds directed to Gaza, which were managed by Brotherhood leaders in Turkey, adding that this reflects that the group is constantly seeking to provide financial resources that are used in its own activities and events."
The researcher pointed out that what happened in Sweden comes within the context of the group’s attempts to provide financial alternatives for spending on its activities, whether within Europe or in Arab and African capitals, noting that the Brotherhood in Europe represents a financial portfolio for the organization, which is spent on its branches in the poor countries in which it is located, but it does not have its own resources.
Adeeb explained that there is a possibility that this money was transferred to other countries where the organization is present, or was spent on illegal activities according to international law, or supporting organizations listed on terrorist lists, whether in Sweden or in other international capitals.
Adeeb stressed that this incident will have a direct impact on the presence of the Brotherhood in Sweden and Europe in general, because such activities completely harm European security, stressing that these incidents reveal the nature of the group and its methods, and push European countries to re-evaluate their position.
