Egypt chairs the Heritage Crafts Committee with technical meetings of the Institute of Standards and Metrology for Islamic countries
Egypt represented by the Egyptian General Authority for Standardization and Quality, the work of the Heritage Crafts Committee held in the framework of the fourteenth week of the technical committees of the Institute of Standards and Metrology for Islamic Countries & quot; SMIIC TC Week 14 & quot;, which was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, during the period from 22 to September 26 last. For specifications and quality, in a statement, today, Thursday, that the Heritage Crafts Committee was of great participation from the institute’s member states, including Turkey, Jordan, Libya, Nigeria, and Uganda. And that is after three years of discussions and meetings between member states, and the committee also discussed a number of new specifications projects that are being prepared. The issuance of the first standard of heritage crafts is an important step towards documenting and protecting these crafts that reflect the identity of Islamic countries and support their ability to compete in global markets, noting that the authority pays special attention to adopting such specifications that combine the preservation of originality and the development of production. The textile and the increase in Egyptian exports of fabrics, clothes, medical textile products, carpets, furnishings, etc., and discussing the possibility of signing a cooperation protocol between the Egyptian General Authority for Standardization and Quality and the Turkish Institute for Standardization, where the Turkish side welcomed the initiative and pointed to the possibility of implementing it in coordination with the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Corporation. The other, including the Halal Food Committee, the Halal Medical Products Committee, the Halal Cosmetic Products Committee, the Website Affairs and Services Committee, the Leather Products Committee, the Textile Products Committee and others, reflecting the pivotal role of Egypt in supporting the joint Arab and Islamic work in the fields of specifications and quality.
