Abu Dhabi, October 3/ WAM/ The Department of Culture and Tourism in Abu Dhabi, through its tourist identity, “Hayyak in Abu Dhabi”, in cooperation with the “New York Nix” team, revealed a basketball stadium with a design inspired by Emirati culture in “Sheikha Fatima Park”.
The announcement of the event came today in conjunction with the American Basketball League matches, “Abu Dhabi 2025”, provided by Holding Company.
The opening of the renewed stadium, His Excellency Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Head of the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, James Doulan, Chairman of the CEO and CEO of Madison Square Garden Sports, in addition to the legends of the New York Nix team John Starks and Stephen Marberry.
Emirati actress Aisha Saif Al -Hamrani inspired the new design of the stadium from the traditional Emirati “Al -Mandous” fund, which is usually made of wood to save precious holdings.
She emphasized that the design re -visualizes the decorations and inscriptions of “Al -Mandous” to cover the pitch, and surround the slogan of the “New York Nix” team, to link the authentic Emirati culture with basketball.
She stated that the design of the central stadium circle mimics the “Al -Mandous” locking plate, and the decorations extending along the side lines, and highlighting the aesthetics of the Emirati traditional crafts, which turned the stadium into a vibrant artwork.
She added that the traditional “Al -Mandous” is characterized by its repeated motifs with a balance and rich in its engineering patterns, while the basketball field is divided into two identical sides. By integrating the engineering decorations inspired by “Al -Mandous” in the design, the pitch turns into an optical dialogue between traditions and sports, and between originality and modernity.
The basketball field in the “Sheikha Fatima Park” is the second part of the initiative of the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, to renew community stadiums in the emirate, after the opening of the basketball field in “Reem Central Park” in its new solution last year.
It is noteworthy that the American Professional Basketball League matches “Abu Dhabi 2025” are witnessing two confrontations between the New York Nix and Philadelphia Ships Sixers, as the first was held yesterday, while the second starts tomorrow in the Federation Arena on Yas Island.
