"Louvre Abu Dhabi" Witnesses the official launch of the tour "DB World" For golf

Abu Dhabi, 8 October / WAM / Today at the Louvre Abu Dhabi Museum, it was announced the launch of the second edition of the closing qualifiers for the DB World Golf Tour, hosted by the UAE, after the great success achieved by the first edition last year.

The launch ceremony was held in the presence of His Excellency Arif Hamad Al Awani, Secretary General of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, Major General M Abdullah Al Sayed Al Hashimi, President of the Emirates Golf Association, Daniel van Oeterdijk, Chief Corporate Communications Officer, DB World, Richard Benn, Chief Revenue and Content Officer of the DB World Tour, and Paul Waring, reigning Abu Dhabi HSBC Champion. The capital, Abu Dhabi, is preparing to host the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship from November 6 to 9, which is celebrating its 20th edition this year with the participation of the top 70 players in the “Race to Dubai” ranking who are competing to win the prestigious tournament, followed directly by the final “DB World” Tour Championship at Jumeirah Golf Estates in Dubai, which will also be held between November 13 and 16, where the season’s champion will be crowned. “Race to Dubai” is only among the top 50 players.

His Excellency Arif Hamad Al Awani welcomed the participants in the final qualifiers, stressing that the two tournaments bring together elite golfers from all over the world.

Al-Awani pointed out that the 20th anniversary of the HSBC Golf Championship reflects the great development achieved by golf in the UAE and the country’s success in hosting international tournaments.

He explained that hosting the tournament in Abu Dhabi constitutes a prominent sporting event at the regional and international levels, as the best 70 players participate in the “Race to Dubai” ranking to compete for prestigious titles.

Major General “M” Abdullah Al Sayed Al Hashemi said, “After more than 30 years of cooperation with the DB World Tour, we are proud of the achievements achieved during this period, and the launch of the qualifiers last year embodies the great confidence that the tour places in the Emirates. We have great confidence that the second edition will provide two weeks of global competitions that strengthen our country’s position on the international arena.”

For his part, Tom Phillips, Executive Director of the DB World Golf Tour in the Middle East, said: “After the great success of the first edition of the qualifiers, we are pleased to return this year two of the most prominent sporting events in the region for two consecutive weeks, especially since the unique qualifier format gives the season an exceptional conclusion.
