Confirmed The Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Authority has fully implemented its regulatory powers, with the aim of ensuring the highest levels of safety and reliability in all nuclear and radiological activities and facilities.

The application comes as a strategic step aimed at protecting human health and environmental safety, and consolidating the Kingdom’s position as a leading model in compliance with international standards.

The Authority explained that the system Censorship of Nuclear and radiological uses gives it clear and direct powers to effectively carry out its oversight tasks.

At the forefront of these tasks is the establishment and application of an advanced and systematic inspection program, specifically designed to evaluate facilities and activities based on the degree of potential risks associated with them, which ensures that oversight efforts are focused on the most important and sensitive aspects.

In this context, the Authority’s specialized inspection teams conduct oversight tours and Continuous monitoring, to verify in the field and accurately the extent to which all facilities and activities comply with the approved regulations and systems.

This procedure aims to ensure that the practices followed are fully consistent with safety and security requirements, and to prevent any violations that may pose a danger.

The Authority stressed that it will not be lenient in dealing with any violations detected during inspections, as the system authorizes it to detect these violations immediately and document them, in preparation for taking appropriate legal measures regarding them.

This includes the authority to conduct the necessary investigations and issue official notices, leading to the application of the necessary corrective or punitive measures when any violation is proven.

In this framework, the Authority works in integrated coordination with the competent judicial authorities, with an emphasis on respecting the jurisdiction of the Public Prosecution with regard to criminal investigations, which reflects the integrated institutional approach followed by the state to ensure the rule of law and achieve justice in this vital and strategic sector.
