"Expand North Star"..International participations exploring investment opportunities across the Emirates

DUBAI, 12th October, 2018 (WAM) – Representatives of international pavilions participating in “Expand North Star,” held in Dubai, confirmed that the event represents a strategic gateway for emerging companies to enter global markets, noting that the business environment in the UAE has become a preferred destination for innovative companies searching for opportunities for growth, investment, and regional and international expansion.
They explained in statements to the Emirates News Agency, WAM, during the activities of the first day of the tenth session of Expand North Star, the largest event for startups and investors around the world, that the entries showcase technologies and innovations that are searching for fertile ground for establishment, growth, and external expansion.
Muhammad Bilal Abbasi, CEO of Innovation and Strategy at IGNITE, affiliated with the Ministry of Information and Communications Technology in Pakistan, said that his country is participating in the exhibition with ten emerging companies specialized in the fields of modern technology such as electric vehicles, artificial intelligence, financial technology, and health technologies.
He added that more than 40 Pakistani companies are also participating in the GITEX exhibition at the Dubai World Trade Center, noting that the aim of participation is to build new partnerships, attract investments, and enable emerging companies to expand and reach global markets.
Abbasi explained that many Pakistani companies see Dubai as a real gateway to expansion in the region and the world, stressing that the supportive environment that the country provides for emerging companies encourages them to establish businesses in it and move towards international markets.
For her part, Gisela Montalvo, Executive Director of the Chamber of Innovation and Technology in Ecuador, said that this is the first time that her country has participated in the “Expand North Star” exhibition, expressing her happiness at presenting the new image of Ecuador as a promising country in the field of technology, in addition to its famous traditional exports.
She explained that the Ecuadorian delegation includes 20 startups and technology companies working in the sectors of health technology, tourism, financial technologies, and smart mobility, noting that most of these companies export their services to North American markets, and today, through their participation in Dubai, they seek to expand their presence towards new markets in the Middle East and Asia.
Montarbo added that her country’s participation in the exhibition came after the opening of the Ecuadorian embassy in the UAE about six months ago, which reflects the growing bilateral relations between the two countries and Ecuador’s desire to enhance economic and technical cooperation with the UAE.
In the same context, Sin Young Shin, Director of the Anyang City Business Agency from Korea, explained that the city, located near the capital, Seoul, is participating in “Expand North Star” with ten small and medium-sized companies specialized in technology and artificial intelligence, indicating that the participation aims to support these companies in entering global markets and showcasing their latest innovative solutions.
He pointed out that the participating Korean companies offer various applications based on artificial intelligence, including smart parking management systems, lighting monitoring technologies, and skin care solutions enhanced with artificial intelligence, stressing that this participation represents an important step towards enhancing technical and investment exchange between the Republic of Korea and the UAE.
