"National Commission for Human Rights" Organizes the Knowledge Lab in its 11th edition

Abu Dhabi, October 14 / WAM / Yesterday, the National Authority for Human Rights organized the eleventh edition of the “Knowledge Lab”, which is a series of seminars aimed at raising awareness and educating the Authority’s employees on various topics related to human rights.
His Excellency Maksour Cruz, Chairman of the Authority, gave a lecture entitled “The Right to Mental Health: Basic Concepts,” which highlighted the importance of the right to mental health and the role of the Authority in protecting this right as it is a right, not a privilege, and an essential component of the right to enjoy the highest level of health as stipulated in international human rights conventions.
The lecture included several topics, including the human rights approach to mental health, which includes the concepts of availability, accessibility, acceptance and quality.
Also highlighted was the inauguration of the first session of the Legislation Laboratory at the headquarters of the National Commission for Human Rights on May 22nd to discuss the Mental Health Law of 2023. The most important international agreements, global initiatives and international reports related to supporting the right to mental health were reviewed, especially those emanating from the United Nations and the World Health Organization.
The National Commission for Human Rights affirmed its continued commitment to organizing scientific and cognitive events that contribute to raising awareness and promoting the culture of human rights.
