"K2 – K2" and"Abu Dhabi Civil Defense" They launch a mechanism "thunder" Smart through "Jetex"

DUBAI, 16th October, 2018 (WAM) – K2, a company owned by the Abu Dhabi government and specialized in advanced autonomous systems and technologies supported by artificial intelligence, and in cooperation with the Abu Dhabi Civil Defense Authority, announced the launch of the smart “RAAD” mechanism dedicated to civil defence, during its participation in the “GITEX Global 2025” exhibition held at the Dubai World Trade Center.

The “Raad” smart mechanism represents a qualitative leap in emergency response systems, as it combines artificial intelligence, robots and drones within a mobile command and control platform that is the first of its kind in the region, and aims to enhance the speed of response and accuracy of field coordination during emergency situations.

His Excellency Brigadier General Salem Abdullah bin Barak Al Dhaheri, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Civil Defense Authority, said that the launch of the smart “Raad” mechanism represents a strategic shift in the operational capabilities of the Civil Defense, as it embodies the authority’s commitment to adopting the latest technical solutions that support rescue and firefighting missions, and contribute to raising the efficiency of the response and reducing the risks to firefighters in a way that enhances the safety of society and preserves lives and property.

He stressed that the Authority seeks, through this innovation, to integrate artificial intelligence, drones, and robots into one system, which allows risk assessment more quickly and improves field coordination between the various concerned parties during emergencies.

For his part, Sean Teo, CEO of K2, expressed their pride in partnering with the Abu Dhabi Civil Defense Authority in developing and launching the “Raad” smart mechanism, which embodies a shared vision towards employing artificial intelligence to serve society and protect lives and property.

He added that this innovation is evidence of the ability of Emirati technology to provide practical solutions that support field missions and enhance the readiness of response teams in the field, adding that through the “Raad” mechanism, “K2” confirms its commitment to developing highly reliable autonomous technologies capable of supporting vital sectors and enhancing Abu Dhabi’s leadership in the field of innovation and future technologies.

The smart “Raad” vehicle features a 4×4 four-wheel drive system that allows it to move in rugged environments with an intelligent command and control platform that allows monitoring tasks and directing field teams in real time.

It also includes two drone containers equipped with fire suppression materials that can contain fires in their early stages, in addition to a four-legged robot capable of moving in dangerous or narrow areas to carry out inspection and reconnaissance tasks before the fire brigades enter.

The mechanism contains artificial intelligence systems with NVIDIA Orin processors to process sensor data and thermal images and provide accurate information to the command center, in addition to an integrated communications system that connects it to drones and operating rooms via a secure network that allows live broadcast of images and data in real time.

The “Raad” mechanism embodies K2’s vision of developing advanced national solutions that enhance operational efficiency and support digital transformation in the civil protection sector, in line with Abu Dhabi Vision 2030 towards a safe and sustainable society, and represents a pioneering model for the integration of technology and innovation in the service of humanity.
