"NMDC Group" cooperate with"Abu Dhabi Environment" To protect the marine environment in the emirate

ABU DHABI, 16 October / WAM / NMDC Group announced today the signing of a five-year strategic cooperation agreement with the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi, to establish a framework of work and cooperation between the two sides covering 13 main areas related to protecting the marine environment from pollution, climate change, and preserving marine life and natural resources.

The agreement, which was signed on the sidelines of the Forbes Middle East Sustainability Leaders Summit in Abu Dhabi, will enable the alignment of efforts between the public and private sectors in pursuit of achieving the sustainability goals of the maritime sector in the country, while charting paths of cooperation between the two sides, and defining NMDC Group’s commitment to supporting the efforts of the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi concerned with managing marine water quality.

Under the agreement, and using NMDC Group’s world-class marine resources and equipment, the two sides will cooperate to modernize and improve the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi’s system for managing marine water quality, while NMDC Group will install 14 new buoys in the marine environment of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, with the aim of enhancing the Authority’s ability to monitor and collect data in real time, as data will be transmitted every 15 minutes.

This qualitative development in the environmental monitoring program represents an important step towards developing strategies and programs aimed at improving and sustaining the marine environment in the emirate.

Her Excellency Dr. Sheikha Salem Al Dhaheri, Secretary-General of the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi, said: “This partnership is a strategic investment in the resilience and long-term sustainability of our marine environments. By combining the expertise of the NMDC Group with the scientific capabilities and mandate given to the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi, we are going beyond the limits of traditional conservation.”

She explained that this cooperation represents the basis for high-accuracy marine water quality data that enables Abu Dhabi to set new standards and ensure that our natural resources are proactively managed and protected for future generations.

For his part, Engineer Yasser Zaghloul, CEO of NMDC Group, said that by strengthening the partnership with the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi, we are preparing to deploy NMDC Group’s marine equipment and technologies in a way that supports the health of the marine environmental system in Abu Dhabi, as this project will be an essential part of our ongoing strategy to enhance sustainability, which includes ambitious steps within various aspects of our operations to advance Positive change within both built and natural environments.

This project is based on the long-term cooperation between NMDC Group and the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi, where the entities work together in the field of consultations related to projects with an environmental impact.

The cooperation agreement aims to further strengthen this partnership by including future initiatives dedicated to protecting the marine environment in Abu Dhabi.
