The Democratic Republic of the Congo supports efforts to resolve the crisis in Madagascar and calls for respect for international law

 The Democratic Republic of the Congo expressed its deep concern about the political crisis taking place in the Republic of Madagascar, warning of the risks that may threaten regional stability in the southern African region.

 

The Congolese government – in a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, reported by the “Set Sur Set” website – called on Congolese News – to a rapid return to constitutional order, as “a basic condition for achieving peace and stability and ensuring the proper functioning of democratic institutions.”

The statement stressed the need to respect international law and the principles of both the African Union and the Southern African Development Community (SADC), especially with regard to “governance.” “Al-Rashida” And “settlement of disputes by peaceful means.”

The Congolese government also announced its full support for the SADC initiative aimed at sending a high-level investigation mission to Madagascar. With the aim of holding a dialogue with the transitional authorities and civil society in order to reach practical solutions to the current political crisis.

The statement concluded by affirming the commitment of the Democratic Republic of the Congo to continue supporting Madagascar in its efforts to restore political stability, which is a necessary condition for achieving development and well-being for its people.
