Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, held a meeting at the government headquarters in the New Administrative Capital to follow up on the executive position of government data centers, in the presence of Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation, Dr. Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Engineer Raafat Hindi, Deputy Minister of Communications for Infrastructure Affairs, and Engineer Nohad Morsi, Assistant Minister of Planning for Infrastructure Affairs. At the beginning of the meeting, the Prime Minister confirmed that the government is working to continue intensifying efforts to enhance the state’s capabilities in the field of increasing investments in data centers and computer clouds, in order to maximize the advantages that Egypt enjoys in this field. Whether in terms of the availability of the necessary infrastructure that has been built over the past years, or in terms of the geographical location of Egypt.

The Minister of Communications and Information Technology confirmed that the world is moving strongly towards establishing giant data centers that are built with technical characteristics at the highest level, with the aim of being able to accommodate a huge number of computers and storage equipment, and therefore we are working to enable international companies specialized in establishing participatory systems. It enables a large number of users in different devices and organizations to use these computers and storage equipment simultaneously, which is what we call “cloud computing.” In the communications and information technology industry, giant data centers also host government applications and the data they produce for various state agencies.

He added: The Ministry has begun setting incentives to establish smart national and regional data centers; To store and manage data of governorates and cities at the republic level.

Counselor Muhammad Al-Homsani, the official spokesman for the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, also stated that the meeting reviewed government data centers within the framework of building an integrated national system of data centers that supports digital transformation, government services, and the private sector, which includes 100% government data centers, as well as data centers with a ruling government contribution, as well as private sector data centers. future destinations; Which includes data centers for the banking sectors, telecommunications and information technology companies, and others, in accordance with the state’s strategy to advance connectivity and digital transformation processes.

Counsel Muhammad Al-Homsani explained that the meeting referred to the establishment of three 100% government data centers, explaining the capabilities provided by these centers and plans for employing them, in addition to reviewing the technologies used in them and the level of connectivity between them and the centers.
