"Salma Rehabilitation" A child has managed to recover after a traumatic brain injury
Abu Dhabi, October 23 / WAM / The story of a 6-year-old boy turned into a model of hope and determination after he regained his ability to walk, speak and play, following a severe traumatic brain injury following a traffic accident. The Salma Rehabilitation Hospital team, affiliated with SEHA, one of the PureHealth Group facilities, succeeded in enabling him to regain his independence and quality of life thanks to multidisciplinary care.
When the child was transferred to the hospital, his condition was critical as he was unable to sit, communicate, or eat on his own. The team of doctors, physical and occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, and nursing staff continued to work according to a precise individual treatment plan aimed at restoring his normal abilities, achieving his independence, and gradually improving his quality of life.
Occupational therapy sessions focused on enhancing fine motor skills and cognitive abilities, and in just three weeks the child was able to relearn daily life skills such as brushing teeth, dressing, and using eating utensils, while speech and language therapy had a transformative impact on his journey, as the child arrived at the hospital dependent on a feeding tube and unable to speak, but he soon began speaking in complete sentences and eating on his own.
The child completed his therapeutic journey, during which he regained his full motor, cognitive, and speech abilities, becoming able to run, climb stairs, communicate clearly, and play with his peers. After his physical recovery was complete, he embarked on a new phase of his therapeutic journey, during which he traveled abroad to complete cognitive therapy, enhance his growth, and regain full health.
