The wife of the President of Serbia reviews the achievements of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood

Abu Dhabi, October 24 / WAM / Mrs. Tamara Vucic, wife of the President of the friendly Republic of Serbia, during her visit today to the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, was briefed on the Council’s progress and achievements in various fields, especially in the field of developing strategic and executive plans to advance the motherhood and childhood sectors in the UAE.
The wife of the Serbian President was received by Her Excellency Al-Reem bint Abdullah Al-Falasi, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, who welcomed the First Lady of Serbia and her accompanying delegation.
During the meeting, ways of cooperation were discussed between the Council and the bodies concerned with motherhood and childhood affairs in Serbia, and the exchange of views and experiences related to developing national policies and programs to achieve the interests and protect the rights of children and mothers.
The First Lady of Serbia and Her Excellency Reem Al Falasi followed a presentation on the Council’s progress and achievements in various fields, especially in the field of developing strategic and executive plans to advance the motherhood and childhood sectors in the UAE, and creating an environment in which the capabilities of children and adolescents flourish and in which well-being and the optimal environment for mothers are achieved, especially in the aspects of education, culture, health, and policy and program planning.
The presentation touched on the “Emirates Friendly Strategy for Mothers, Children, and Adolescents,” which came based on the decision of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, “Mother of the Emirates,” President of the General Women’s Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, which represents a comprehensive vision to support and care for mothers, children, and adolescents.
The presentation included an explanation about the “Fatima Bint Mubarak Center for Motherhood and Childhood Research,” and an overview of the “Emirati Children’s Parliament,” which aims to promote children’s rights and participation and provide the opportunity for children to express their opinions and ideas in an organized and influential manner on matters of concern to their community, discuss issues that concern them and express their vision for their future and the future of the nation.
He highlighted the “Emirati Children’s Day,” which every year devotes a theme to one of the children’s rights, including the right to participate, a safe and sustainable environment, the right to protection, the right to play, the right to health, and the right to national identity and culture.
He also highlighted the “Children’s Advisory Council,” which plays a major role in presenting proposals that they believe are in the interest of children and expressing opinions on everything presented to it by the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and another about the Association of Mothers of People of Determination (Himma), and its role in providing support and guidance to mothers of children of determination and unifying efforts with various parties.
The presentation highlighted many of the initiatives implemented by the Council, including the “UNICEF Youth Ambassadors for Climate Change” initiative at the Conference of the Parties on Climate Change (COP 28), which aimed to provide opportunities for children and adolescents, and the Child Environment Award, which aimed to enhance environmental work among children, raise their level of awareness in this field, and increase their ability to assume responsibility for preserving the environment.
The presentation presented an overview of the “Fatima Bint Mubarak Forum for Motherhood and Childhood on Mental Health,” which was held during the month of October last year, and focused on mothers, children, and adolescents, and aimed to establish a comprehensive dialogue on mental health issues related to motherhood and childhood in the UAE, in addition to an overview of the “Fatima Bint Mubarak Award for Motherhood and Childhood,” which aims to honor international figures with distinguished achievements in serving maternal issues and affairs. And children inside and outside the country, and encouraging researchers to conduct studies and research in this field, and the “Young Volunteer Initiative” which aims to involve all age groups of society and connect children with senior citizens to develop the spirit of volunteerism of the people of the Emirates and provide opportunities for cooperation among members of society.
The presentation shed light on the “From Children of the Emirates to Children of the World” initiative, which aims to spread joy and happiness among children around the world by collecting and distributing gifts and toys donated by children of the Emirates and its residents to children around the world, and awareness workshops organized by the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood on the prevention of bullying in the Emirates camp for Syrian refugees in Muraijib Al Fhood in Jordan, as well as the Council’s program and award for the prevention of bullying in schools.
