The UAE participates in the 27th ministerial meeting of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum in Doha

Doha, October 24 / WAM / The UAE, represented by the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, participated in the twenty-seventh ministerial meeting of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), which was hosted by the Qatari capital, Doha, yesterday with the participation of energy ministers from member states and a number of observer countries, to discuss current developments in global gas markets and ways to enhance cooperation to ensure energy security and sustainability in light of the global shift towards a low-carbon economy.
His Excellency Engineer Ahmed Mohammed Al Kaabi, Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure for the Electricity, Water and Future Energy Sector, stressed that natural gas forms a fundamental pillar in the global energy mix, due to its reliability, efficiency and low emissions, which makes it a pivotal supporter of efforts to transition towards a more sustainable energy future, and is capable of meeting the energy needs of emerging economies at reasonable prices.
He pointed out that the UAE is moving forward steadily in implementing a number of strategic projects in this field, the most prominent of which are the Al Hail and Ghasha projects, and the Ruwais LNG project, which will contribute to doubling the country’s production capacity to 15 million tons annually.
He said that the UAE’s participation in this meeting reflects its firm commitment to strengthening international cooperation to ensure the security and sustainability of the global energy sector, as natural gas is a pivotal element in achieving a balance between economic growth and environmental protection, and an essential pillar for building a reliable, low-emission energy system.
He added that the UAE, through its strategic projects in gas and clean energy, continues its active role in supporting global efforts to shift towards more efficient and sustainable energy systems, based on the vision of its wise leadership to achieve climate neutrality by 2050.
