President Sisi discusses with the Pakistani Chief of Staff ways to avoid escalation in the Middle East and South Asia

 President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, received today, Saturday, at the Federal Palace, the Chief of Staff of the Pakistani Land Forces, Field Marshal Asim Munir, in the presence of Lieutenant General Abdel Majeed Saqr, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of Defense and Military Production, the Ambassador of Pakistan to Cairo, Amer Shawkat, and the Chief of the Secretariat of the Chief of Staff of the Pakistani Land Forces, Major General Sayed Muhammad. The official spokesman for the Presidency of the Republic, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, stated that the President expressed – during the meeting – his appreciation for the remarkable development in Egyptian-Pakistani relations during the current stage, stressing Egypt’s keenness to continue strengthening and advancing bilateral cooperation in various fields, in a way that achieves the common interests of the Egyptian and Pakistani peoples, and contributes to advancing development and prosperity efforts in Both countries.

Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, the official spokesman, added that the Chief of Staff of the Pakistani Army conveyed to the President the greetings of Mr. Shehbaz Sharif, Prime Minister of Pakistan, praising the pivotal Egyptian role in calming the situation and achieving stability in the Middle East region.. He also congratulated the President; On the occasion of the success of the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit, which witnessed the signing of the agreement to end the war in the Gaza Strip, praising the tireless Egyptian efforts to end the humanitarian catastrophe in the Strip.

The official spokesman indicated that the meeting also discussed ways to enhance regional peace and security, whether in the Middle East or South Asia, where the importance of intensifying consultation between the two countries to avoid escalation and confront common challenges was emphasized, in addition to discussing prospects for Cooperation in the field of combating terrorism and extremism.
