Health: “Vaxera” supports the Africa CDC Vaccine Manufacturing Fellowship Program

The Ministry of Health and Population, through the Holding Company for Biopharmaceuticals and Vaccines “Vaxera”, participated in launching the fellowship program organized by the African Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, with the aim of developing vaccine manufacturing capabilities, as part of the state’s strategy to localize the vaccine industry in Egypt and Africa, in support of the continent’s vision to achieve 60% self-sufficiency. Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the Ministry’s official spokesman, explained that the company organized a field visit for five trainees from African countries, under the supervision of the Egyptian Unified Purchasing Authority in its capacity as the regional center for North Africa, noting that the visit included Tours in the factories of Building 60 and Building 1, and the Production Control Department, where the trainees learned about sterile areas, water purification systems, the sequence of production processes, control procedures during operation, and analysis of preparations until their release, and also covered the concepts of monitoring cold chains and ensuring the quality of vaccines until they reach the end user.
The official spokesman added that Major General Dr. Amir Judeh, a member The Executive Director of the Egyptian Company for the Production of Serums and Vaccines reviewed the readiness of the production, quality, research and control sectors to provide training according to the specified plan.
Abdul Ghaffar confirmed that The program combines theoretical and practical training in a real production environment, which enhances the exchange of experiences and develops the competencies of African cadres, adding that Dr. Dalia Mohamed, representative of the Regional Center for Capacity Enhancement at “Vaxera” Company, gave a presentation on the company’s history and its path in manufacturing vaccines and biological preparations, with a focus on its activities and production capacities to support security. Health services in Egypt and Africa.
For his part, Sherif El-Feel, Executive Managing Director of “Vaxera”, stressed that supporting the fellowship programs extends the company’s historical role as a bio-manufacturing beacon on the continent, stressing that investing in human resources is the basis of sustainability and self-sufficiency in vaccines.
