Elton and Malah lead Khor Fakkan to the quarter-finals of the “Cup”

The Khor Fakkan team qualified for the quarter-finals of the President’s Cup, after defeating its guest, Ittihad Kalba, with two unanswered goals, in the match that was held this evening at Saqr bin Mohammed Al Qasimi Stadium in Khor Fakkan.
The Khor Fakkan team appeared to be the better side throughout the course of the match, after a series of dangerous attacks that were brilliantly blocked by Kalba goalkeeper Sultan Al Mandhari.
The visiting team almost took the lead when Iranian Shahryar’s shot touched the foot of Khor Fakkan defender Abdullah Al-Rifai and passed next to the post in the 14th minute.
On the other hand, Kalba’s goalkeeper Al-Mundhiri excelled in stopping three dangerous chances. The first was via a shot from Brazilian Laurence (43), and the second was from Moroccan Tissodale (45), before he blocked a strong ball shot by Ahmed Jashk from outside the area (45+2).
Khorfakkan opened the scoring in the 57th minute through Portuguese Elton Felipe, who received a perfect pass from his Brazilian teammate Kaiqui Campos and was alone with the goal, shooting the ball into the net. Despite the referee’s indication of offside, video technology confirmed the validity of the goal.
Iranian Shahryar wasted a valuable opportunity to equalize after he played a header from a comfortable position, but it passed outside the goal (83rd minute).
In stoppage time, Moroccan Salim Amlah increased Khor Fakkan’s lead by scoring the second goal (90+3) after an organized group attack that the “Eagles” translated into a well-deserved victory and a historic qualification to the quarter-finals.
