Tomorrow.. The Green Climate Fund Council discusses new commitments to climate financing ahead of (COP30)

The Green Climate Fund (GCF) will hold its third and final meeting this year, which is the 43rd meeting of its Council (B.43), in the city of Songdo, Incheon, Republic of South Korea, during the period from 27 to 30 October of this year.
The meeting, according to a statement by the Fund, comes just two weeks before the Conference of States Parties to the Convention The United Nations Climate Change Thirty (COP30) to discuss new climate financing proposals directed to developing countries..
The Council is scheduled to consider 24 climate projects submitted for approval with a total potential financing of $1.4 billion from the Fund’s resources. The proposed projects include investments to support adaptation and mitigation measures in all areas of the Fund’s work.
The Council will also consider approving five new organizations as implementing partners for the Fund’s projects, all of which are existing national organizations within developing countries, in a step that enhances local ownership and empowers institutional capabilities in those countries. The Council will also discuss reviewing the recent evaluations issued by the Independent Evaluation Unit, in addition to the restructuring policy, in addition to the work program of the General Secretariat and its budget for the coming year.
The Council meeting, which extends over four days, will be attended by observers from civil society organizations and the private sector, in addition to National Designated Authorities (NDAs), accredited entities, and other partners who contribute to delivering climate finance to countries.
