المملكة: Saudi-Pakistani statement: Cooperation in the fields of energy and discussion of projects to increase trade exchange – urgent

A joint statement between the Kingdom and Pakistan revealed a number of economic and trade agreements and cooperation in the fields of energy

The statement said: "Based on the depth of the historical partnership between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, extending for about eight decades, and based on the close ties of brotherhood and Islamic solidarity that unite the leadership of the two countries, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister – may God protect him – and His Excellency the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Mr. Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, agreed during the meeting held between them in Riyadh on Monday, 5 Jumada al-Awwal. 1447 AH, corresponding to October 27, 2025 AD, to launch an economic cooperation framework between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, based on the common economic interests of the two countries, and in confirmation of their mutual desire to enhance trade and investment relations in a way that serves their common interests."

The statement explained that the framework includes examining a number of specific projects in the economic, trade, investment and development fields that will contribute to supporting cooperation between the governments of the two countries, enhancing the pivotal role of the private sector, and increasing trade exchange between the two countries, in priority sectors. Including the sectors of energy, industry, mining, information technology, tourism, and agriculture. And food security, and the two sides are currently working on studying a number of joint economic projects, including signing a memorandum of understanding between the two sides, the electrical interconnection project between the Kingdom and Pakistan, in addition to signing a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the field of energy between the two countries.

This framework comes as an extension of the two countries’ efforts to consolidate the bonds of brotherly relations between them, and an affirmation of their common vision towards building a sustainable partnership in various economic fields. Trade and investment in a way that achieves the aspirations of the leaders of the two countries and their brotherly peoples, and serves their common interests. The leaders of the two countries also look forward to holding a meeting of the Saudi-Pakistani Supreme Coordination Council.
