Statement from Al Habtoor Group regarding Syria

Al Habtoor Group said that it has followed what is being circulated in some media and electronic platforms regarding the existence of unimplemented pledges for the benefit of the Syrian Development Fund, especially with reference to the founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al Habtoor Group, Khalaf bin Ahmed Al Habtoor, adding: “As the party directly concerned with this news, we would like to clarify to public opinion, with all respect and transparency, that what was reported has nothing to do with the truth.”

The group explained in a press statement, “On the contrary, the total humanitarian and development contributions made by Mr. Khalaf Al Habtoor to Syria during the past weeks alone far exceed what was stated in those reports. Among the most prominent of these initiatives is the launch of a package of community initiatives worth 10 million UAE dirhams, in cooperation with the Syrian Ministry of Endowments and the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor in the Syrian Arab Republic. It was also recently announced that the provision of 100,000 new school seats to support the educational infrastructure in the Syrian Arab Republic, including schools in the areas most in need, and modern educational equipment, in coordination with the Syrian Ministry of Education.”

The statement stressed that “Mr. Khalaf Al Habtoor has never waited for thanks or praise in return for what he offers to Syria. What motivates him is his deep belief in the importance of standing with the brotherly Syrian people in all circumstances, and fulfilling what he always promises and announces with transparency and honesty.”

The statement added: “We affirm our full commitment to all our pledges, and we highly value the fruitful cooperation with the official Syrian authorities, and we look forward to more constructive humanitarian and development partnerships in the near future. We hope that the publishing parties of such news will ensure their credibility before publication.”
