The University of Sharjah and the Emirates Society of Friends of Senior Citizens promote healthcare and training

Sharjah, October 28 / WAM / Today, the University of Sharjah signed a memorandum of understanding with the Emirates Association of Friends of Senior Citizens as part of its ongoing efforts to enhance its societal role, support the quality of life of senior citizens, and cooperate in training, scientific research, and health services directed to this important segment of society.
The memorandum was signed on behalf of the university by Dr. Salah Taher Al-Hajj, Vice Chancellor for Community Affairs, and on behalf of the association by Maryam Salem Al-Salman, Chairman of the Association’s Board of Directors, in the presence of Dr. Qutaiba Hamid, Vice Chancellor of the University for Medical Colleges and Health Sciences Affairs, and a number of faculty members and officials of the association.
The memorandum aims to develop opportunities for cooperation in the fields of education, training and scientific research by qualifying the cadres working in the association and developing their skills in the field of caring for senior citizens, in addition to organizing conferences, seminars and joint events concerned with the health of the elderly and their quality of life. The memorandum also stipulates the exchange of experiences, innovations and modern technologies between the two parties and the support of joint research and clinical activities in the fields of health care.
The two sides stressed the importance of cooperation, which comes in line with the university’s mission of serving society and applying knowledge.
