The Hospitality Advisory Council discusses Emiratisation efforts in the hospitality sector

DUBAI, 30 October / WAM / The Hospitality Advisory Council, during its fourth meeting of 2025, chaired by His Excellency Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Tourism, and in the presence of representatives of the public and private sectors, including directors and presidents of major national and international hotel establishments operating in the country, discussed ways to develop the hospitality sector, enhance its competitiveness and attractiveness to national talent and quality investments, and enhance integration between the government and private sectors to support the sustainability of this vital sector and raise its operational efficiency.

His Excellency Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri stressed that the UAE, thanks to the directives of its wise leadership, has made great strides in developing the hospitality sector as it is a major pillar in advancing the tourism development process in the country and continuing to diversify the national economy and support sustainable development, noting that the sector continues to achieve strong results that reflect the country’s attractiveness as a preferred destination for visitors, thanks to its advanced infrastructure and world-class hospitality services.

His Excellency said: In our work within the Hospitality Advisory Council, we focus on supporting partnership and integrating efforts between the government and private sectors, which contributes to developing a flexible, attractive business environment that supports the growth of sector indicators, and continuing to launch qualitative initiatives that enhance the sustainability of the hospitality system in the country, which consolidates the UAE’s position as a leading destination in the field of hospitality at the regional and global levels.

He pointed out that the selection of Masfoot village as the best tourist village in the world for the year 2025 by the United Nations Tourism Organization represents a new national achievement, which must be built upon and the successful experience must be generalized to include new Emirati villages and regions as a model for developing sustainable rural tourism, preserving cultural and natural heritage, empowering local communities, and promoting the concept of sustainability in tourism development at the state level.

The meeting discussed developing mechanisms to support and sustain this national achievement, to enhance the UAE’s global position in developing sustainable tourist destinations, by marketing Masfoot’s capabilities that qualified it for this achievement, and enhancing cooperation between the government and private sectors in this regard.

The Council also discussed Emiratisation efforts in the hospitality sector, as members reviewed programs and initiatives supporting increasing the participation of national talents in various fields of the sector, as a national priority, and the importance of enhancing the entry of Emirati youth into various jobs within hospitality facilities and activities, especially in the areas of operations management and digital transformation.

The meeting discussed the efforts made to develop a comprehensive and accurate database of national jobs and cadres in cooperation with partners from government agencies and the private sector, in addition to implementing practical training programs that provide citizens with opportunities to gain direct experience in the hotel work environment, which contributes to preparing a qualified generation of national competencies capable of leading the future of the sector.

The meeting comes days before the launch of the UAE-Africa Tourism Investment Summit, hosted by Dubai. The meeting discussed the opportunities and capabilities provided by the summit, especially the promotion of companies in hotel and hospitality activities between the UAE and the African continent, and increasing tourist flows to the country, which contributes to consolidating the UAE’s position as a global center for hospitality and sustainable tourism, and enhancing its presence as a major partner in developing the international tourism system based on cooperation, innovation and knowledge exchange.
