Launch a contest "Khalifa for children’s narrative creativity" And start receiving entries

Abu Dhabi, November 1, 2017 – The General Secretariat of the Khalifa Educational Award, one of the institutions of the Zayed Humanitarian Legacy Foundation, announced the launch of the “Khalifa Children’s Creativity Storytelling” competition as a creative competition for children in the age group from 7 to 15 years.
Receiving applications for participation in the competition began today and will continue until November 10th. The winners are scheduled to be announced coinciding with the award’s participation in the activities of the Second Abu Dhabi Early Childhood Week, which will be held from November 17 to 23.
The competition includes two categories, the first is “Creative Buds” for children aged 7-9 years, with an average of 150 to 200 words, and the second is “Emerging Writers”, for children aged 10-15 years, with an average of 200 to 300 words for the submitted story.
Humaid Al Hooti, Secretary General of the Award, stressed the importance of this initiative, which comes within the mission and objectives of the Khalifa Educational Award and within the framework of close cooperation with the Abu Dhabi Early Childhood Authority, to support creativity and talent development from a young age, enhance children’s narrative imagination and encourage them to express their ideas in a creative manner that reveals their promising talents in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
He explained that the Khalifa Educational Award presents the field of the Khalifa International Award for Early Education, which is considered the first of its kind in the world and aims to shed light on the best international practices in caring for and empowering this category around the world.
He pointed out that the competition includes a number of pivotal goals, foremost of which is strengthening national identity, refining the child’s personality, expanding his awareness of the principles of loyalty and belonging to the homeland and wise leadership, as well as consolidating the principles of good and positive citizenship, community service, preserving the environment, and encouraging concepts of sustainability, in addition to strengthening the status of the Arabic language in the hearts of the participating children.
He added that the competition includes a number of criteria for evaluating the submitted story, including the sound and simple Arabic language suitable for the age stage, creativity and imagination, clarity of the story structure, logical sequence of events, educational and human values, brevity and adherence to the specified number of words for each category.
He pointed out that the competition includes a set of terms and conditions for participation, including that the story must be in the correct Arabic language and in a style appropriate to the age group. The story will be accepted regardless of the date of its writing provided that it has not been previously published or printed. It is preferable for the story to include drawings or illustrations created by the child himself. 3 winners are chosen from each age group, bringing the total to 6 distinguished winners. Each winner will receive a valuable cash prize as an incentive to continue creativity, in addition to being given a shield and an approved certificate of excellence.
