The Taekwondo team delegation returns to Cairo today after the historic achievement at the World Championship in China

This evening, the Egyptian Taekwondo national team returns after having succeeded in writing history in the World Championship, which was held from 24 to 30 last October.
The Egyptian national team was able to achieve a historic achievement that had not happened since the founding of the federation in 1978 and throughout the team’s participation in all the various world championships, which began in 1982 after the team achieved fifth place in the overall standings of the tournament. Out of 198 countries that participated in the tournament, represented by 995 male and female players.
The team succeeded in achieving outstanding results, most notably Saif Issa winning gold in the under-87 kg category, which in itself is an achievement, given that it had not been achieved for 28 years. Then, 19-year-old Janna Khattab was able to achieve bronze in the world championship in the under-weight category. 53 kg, in addition to Aya Shehata achieving fifth place in the under 67 kg weight.
Egypt participated in the tournament with a delegation consisting of engineer Mohamed Agiza, a member of the federation’s board of directors, and the head of the federation’s technical committee as head of the delegation. The delegation includes 10 players, namely: Moataz Asem, Mohamed Osama, Ahmed Hisham, Rami Issa, Ahmed Rawi, Saif Issa, and Abdullah Essam. Jana Khattab, Aya Shehata, and Malak Sami, along with a technical and medical staff consisting of the Spanish national team’s technical director, Rosendo Alonso, the general coach, Captain Osama Sayed, the Turkish coach, Gulsha Tapia, and Dr. Kadri Al-Murr, a physiotherapist.
