On a new historic day… Giza joins the UNESCO Creative Cities Network

On a happy day in Giza Governorate, and coinciding with the historic opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum, the governorate is witnessing a new global event added to its record of achievements, after UNESCO officially announced that Giza Governorate has joined the Creative Cities Network for the year 2025 in the field of films.
Engineer Adel El Naggar, Governor of Giza, expressed his pride and pride in this bright achievement, stressing that it represents a moment of pride and happiness for all the people of Giza. And Egypt, and reflects the ancient cultural and artistic status enjoyed by the governorate, with its unique cultural and historical heritage and prominent contributions in the field of film and arts industry.
The governor pointed out that this day embodies a double joy that combines the historic opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum and Giza’s joining the global creativity network, a clear indication that Giza is moving steadily towards a future full of achievements. And cultural leadership.
Engineer Adel El-Naggar explained that this accession represents the culmination of the integrated efforts made by the Egyptian state in supporting creativity as one of the engines of sustainable development, in implementation of the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to strengthen Egyptian cultural identity and openness to leading international experiences in the fields of culture and arts.
He added that joining a network that includes more than 350 cities from around the world is considered A strategic step towards strengthening Giza’s position on the global map of creativity, and opening new horizons for international cooperation in the fields of film production, cultural exchange, and developing young cadres in the fields of visual and media arts.
The governor also stressed that Giza possesses unique elements that make it worthy of this coronation, as it hosts the Giza Pyramids, one of the Seven Wonders of the World and the most important sites of global human heritage, in addition to its abundance of artistic and cultural institutions and studios. Film productions contributed to consolidating Egypt’s position as a destination for Arab cinema for many decades.
The Governor of Giza expressed his appreciation to the supporting bodies from the Ministries of Higher Education and Local Development and the Egyptian National Commission for UNESCO for their tireless efforts in supporting Giza’s candidacy file, stressing continued cooperation and coordination to maximize the benefit from this membership in a way that serves the goals of sustainable cultural development.
He concluded The governor made his statement by emphasizing that Giza Governorate will work to implement a comprehensive action plan and innovative artistic initiatives to support the film industry and encourage youth creativity, noting that this day will be recorded in Giza’s memory as a day of pride that symbolizes civilization, creativity, and the future.
