"Manar Abu Dhabi" Launched in Al Ain for the first time

ABU DHABI, 4th November / WAM / The “Manar Abu Dhabi” exhibition, the main focus of the “Abu Dhabi Public Art” initiative, launched by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, returns in its second edition, displaying its installations and light artworks for the first time from the city of Al Ain, which was launched on November 1, 2025 and continues until January 4, 2026. Under the title “Your Guide, Suhail’s Star,” “Manar Abu Dhabi” highlights, and under the supervision of Artistic Director Kay Hori, and curated by curator Alia Zaal Lootah, curator Munira Al Sayegh, and assistant curator Maryam Al Shehhi, through its cultural sites in the city of Al Ain, listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, sheds light on the artworks of six artists from the United Arab Emirates and the world, as their approved artworks illuminate the Al Qattara and Al Jimi rivers, so that the exhibition continues its message of celebrating the Emirate of Abu Dhabi as a center for cultural innovation and contemporary public art, by combining creativity, heritage and nature. and technology to inspire the community and visitors alike. During the opening, which coincided with the launch of the Traditional Handicrafts Festival in Al Ain, visitors enjoyed immersive and eye-catching experiences over the weekend with dazzling light artwork presented by artists Rafael Lozanoheimer, Khaled Al Shafar, Maitha Hamdan, Abdullah Al Mulla, Ammar Al Attar and Christian Brinkmann. These works took the audience on a sensory journey that combines light, sound and landscape, in a reflection of the status of Abu Dhabi. A growing global platform for sharing creativity and innovation in public art. Manar Abu Dhabi activities also kicked off with a public dialogue session entitled “Public Art and Al Ain’s Natural Landscape,” hosted by the exhibition’s curator, Alia Zaal Lootah, where she gave the audience a glimpse into the creative vision behind the installation artworks and the role of public art in celebrating the cultural heritage of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. As part of Manar Abu Dhabi’s activities, Al Qattara and Al Jimi oases host temporary food and beverage stands, guided tours, and photography workshops, providing the public with opportunities to experience art, culture, and society in the midst of Al Ain’s historic oases, allowing visitors the opportunity to enjoy an experience that combines art, culture, and society in the atmosphere of Al Ain’s historic oases.
