Emirates Airlines allows travel through Terminal 3 without a passport or boarding pass

Emirates Airlines announced an investment of about 85 million dirhams in installing more than 200 cameras equipped with facial recognition (biometric) technology in Terminal 3 at Dubai International Airport, to allow its customers to pass through the various airport points, from completing travel procedures, passports, boarding gates and airport lounges, using only facial features, without the need to present a passport or boarding pass, with quick and easy registration steps through the Emirates application.
Any Emirates customer, whether a visitor to the UAE or a resident, can easily register for the biometric smart travel services through the Emirates Airlines application, or through self-service kiosks at the airport, or at check-in desks. It is sufficient to register only once to agree to the use of biometric data, so customers can then bypass queues and easily navigate through the smart areas designated for biometric identification at Dubai International Airport during departure or arrival.
Customers can register for the service via the Emirates airline application or airport check-in offices. The traveler must be 18 years or older, with individual registration for each person. Registration through the application takes only a few minutes, and the customer is required to be a member of the Emirates Skywards program.
How Emirates customers use facial recognition technology at Dubai International Airport
1. Registration: Customers can register for the service via the Emirates airline application or airport check-in offices. The traveler must be 18 years or older, with individual registration for each person. Registration through the application takes only a few minutes, and the customer is required to be a member of the Emirates Skywards program. The customer is required to scan the passport, take a selfie to match it with his Skywards profile, and consent to Emirates’ use of biometric data registered with the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs.
2- Checking in using biometrics: After registering, the traveler can use facial recognition technology at self-service kiosks or check-in desks when traveling from Dubai, and it can also be used in the connecting flight area when transferring to another Emirates flight.
3- Quick passage through the smart biometric gates: Registered travelers can bypass the immigration queues through the smart gates in Terminal 3 operated by the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai, where it is enough to stop for a few seconds in front of the camera to take a quick photo, then proceed directly to the security inspection area or baggage claim. The service is available to citizens and residents of the UAE, citizens of the Gulf Cooperation Council, and visitors who are entitled to obtain a visa upon arrival through smart biometric gates.
4- Easily enter Emirates airline lounges: Eligible Emirates customers can enter Emirates airline lounges in the Concourse B Entry is simple through facial recognition at five designated gates, and all they have to do is go to the gate and look at the camera, and the entrance will open automatically, without the need to present a boarding pass.
5- Express boarding: Passengers registered for the service no longer need to present their boarding pass, as they can board using their facial fingerprint through the boarding gates equipped with biometric recognition technology in the concourse. A andB andCWith plans to expand the service soon.
If the traveler has previously visited Dubai or is a resident there and has a biometric file with the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs, Emirates Airlines can match his photo with the existing file after completing registration. If there is no previous file, Emirates Airlines will create a temporary biometric file to record approval to use the service. Once the person enters Dubai, the temporary file will be converted into a permanent file in the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs database, to be automatically used on his next trips through Dubai.
