The skies of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and most regions of the Arab world are witnessing this evening, Thursday, November 6, 2025, Astronomicalin Jeddah Engineer Majid Abu Zahra said that the conjunction will occur immediately after the beginning of the night, when the moon will be seen visually approaching the Pleiades cluster, that small gathering of bright blue stars that resembles a cluster of grapes, and is known in Arab heritage as "The Seven Sisters.” This view will remain available for observation throughout the hours of the night, giving followers the opportunity to contemplate one of the most beautiful scenes in the autumn sky.

Star cluster

Abu Zahra explained that The PleiadesCluster is not just a group of stars close together in the sky, but rather an open star cluster that includes more than a thousand stars, all of which were born from a single cloud of gas and cosmic dust only about 100 million years ago, meaning that they are still young compared to the age of the Sun, which is about 4.5 billion years. He added that these stars move together in space, and their members are linked by their mutual gravity, while many of them shine hundreds of times brighter than the sun.

On clear nights, about seven stars from the Pleiades can be seen with the naked eye, while binoculars and telescopes reveal hundreds of its stars sparkling with amazing details. However, Abu Zahra pointed out that the bright moonlight – as it comes only one day after the full moon phase – will affect the clarity of the view of the Pleiades tonight, especially from within cities that suffer from light pollution.

Scientific value

The chief astronomer of Jeddah added that this astronomical scene is not limited to its scientific value only, but also carries an aesthetic and human dimension, as it reminds us of the greatness and harmony of the universe, and gives us a moment of contemplation and calm away from the hustle and bustle of the earth and the noise of life. Daily. At a time when the night begins to display its beauty, the sky remains – as Abu Zahra says – "It gives those who look up to it moments of stillness and beauty.”

He pointed out at the conclusion of his speech that the attached image of a computer simulation shows the location of the Pleiades next to the moon as it will be seen through binoculars, while it will not be clearly seen with the naked eye tonight due to the brightness of the moon.
