Nancy Pelosi announces that she will not run again for the US House of Representatives

Former Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, announced that she will not run for re-election to the House, concluding her long political career, not only as the first woman to hold the position of Speaker of the House of Representatives, but also as one of the most powerful political figures in America.
Pelosi, who represented San Francisco for nearly 40 years, announced her decision today, Thursday, according to the Associated News Agency. Press.
Pelosi said in a video speech addressed to voters: “I will not run for re-election to Congress.”
Pelosi made clear that she will complete her final year in office. She sent a message to her voters who took her to Congress, calling on them to continue the process of setting political agendas, whether in the United States or around the world.
She said: “My message to the city that I love is: O San Francisco, know your strength. We made history. We have made progress. “We have always been at the forefront.” Pelosi added: “And now we must continue to do so by participating fully in our democracy and fighting for the American ideals that we hold dear.”
This decision, which was not entirely surprising, was echoed throughout Washington and California, where an elite group of veteran political leaders are stepping down ahead of next year’s midterm elections. Some are leaving reluctantly, others with determination, but many face challenges from newcomers eager to lead the Democratic Party and confront US President Donald Trump.
