Iran cuts off water supplies in the evening hours

In light of the severe water crisis taking place in Iran, water supplies will be temporarily cut off from the evening until the morning, especially in the capital, Tehran.

On Saturday, the Iranian News Agency (ISNA) quoted Energy Minister Abbas Aliabadi as saying: “We are forced to cut off water supplies to citizens on some evenings so that the tanks can fill again.”

The minister added that a significant drop in water pressure is also expected, calling on residents to install water tanks and pumps to compensate for periods of supply interruption.

Water has already been cut off from the evening until the next morning in several areas of Tehran, and storing water has become a part of daily life, especially for use in bathrooms.

The president calls for strict water rationing
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian this week signaled the possibility of strict water rationing measures if rains do not come by next month.

If the drought continues, Pezeshkian is even considering evacuating the residents of the capital, Tehran, which has a population of about 15 million people.

However, observers believe that such a measure is nothing more than a symbolic statement without the possibility of actual implementation, as moving the capital will take years, if not decades, given the concentration of all central authorities and most of the population’s workplaces in Tehran.
