71.8 million passengers were transported by the Dubai Tram in 11 years

Since its launch in 2014 until today, the Dubai Tram has transported more than 71.8 million passengers, according to the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority.
The authority said via “X” on Tuesday that the tram traveled more than 6.61 million kilometers and connected major destinations such as Dubai Marina and Palm Jumeirah.
She added, “Today, we celebrate eleven years of a journey that has turned the vision into reality, and strengthens Dubai’s path towards a more innovative and sustainable future.”
The Dubai Tram is the first tram project outside Europe to operate with a ground electrical feed system throughout the entire line without the need for overhead electricity wires. It is also the first system in the world that uses automatic gate technology for the passenger station platform, which is compatible with the system of opening and closing gates on the train, in order to provide the greatest amount of comfort, safety and security factors for passengers and to preserve the air conditioning system for the internal environment of stations and carriages from external climatic influences.
The tram consists of 11 cars, each car includes seven compartments divided into three classes: gold class, silver class, and special compartments for women and children, ensuring the provision of a travel experience that meets the needs of all passengers and suits different groups.
The operations of the Dubai Tram are monitored through an integrated control center, operating around the clock, where the movement of the tram and the performance of its drivers is monitored, and the efficiency of the supporting operational systems such as power systems and traffic signals at intersections is ensured.
